If dottore’s real name was Mark and he had worked to the top of a big law firm such as Baker McKenzie but was from Germany...that should be getting pretty close.

My Google-fu is not great, Mark is a very common name, and Dottore died a long time ago by internet standards.

If someone knows his last name, that’d help a lot.

When I get his last (family) name, I can hope to unearth some info about his dad, the writer who owned this typewriter. It’d be really cool to get a book or something syrien by him.

(I used to be a partner at one of California’s largest, oldest, bluest-chip firms, until about 23 years ago. As a test, I looked for internet stuff on myself - nada.)

I think Seahawk was buddies with Dottore and got some of his dad's harmonicas... He may know full name.

When I was considering moving to Southeast Asia (Singapore, Kuala Lumpur) Dottore and his tales of exploits in the region weighed a fair amount into my consideration. I ended up going, and if I'm being honest he had a lot to do with it though I never told him that. it was a pivotal move for me, my family and my career. Godspeed Dottore.

Seahawk was indeed ties in with Dottore. I had some back and forth with Dottore as many on this board, always cordial. Seahawk gave me a harmonica from Dottore in the 2019 Christmas exchange!

Mark and I talked or did the email thing at least twice a month for years but we never met in person. We exchanged books, ideas and even a few LP vinyl albums: That's The Way of the World.

Also an album about two Indian kids up in Canada.

He was intensely private so all I will say is that he reminded me of my Father: The smartest guy in the room who wants to talk about you. That kind of grace.

Not at all. In fact, the last of the Dottore harmonica's, the least impressive of the bunch but still awesome, caseless, went out to my PP Christmas person last week. D would approve because that's the way of the world, plant a flower...

They were both nice guys. I have a saying...ass holes never die. Only nice people.

I knew Dottore and know who he was, where he worked, etc. It’s not for publication but maybe if Jyl wants to contact me, I could fill him in.

I want to thank everyone who has helped me. I’m optimistic of being able to find out about the senior Dottore who wrote on this typewriter!

I live about 10 minutes from where Dottore last hung his hat. Not sure if it is of any help but I can drop by if there is remaining family still in the area.
