Wow - someone pinch me - I just ordered a brick of Federal Large Pistol primers from Brownell's. They have Gold Medal Match primers as well, in both large pistol and large rifle. Limit one brick.

Things are getting more and more reasonable - just got some steel case Wolf/Tula 9mm for $16/bx plus shipping, last I bought it in March '20 just as prices starred to climb was at $13/bx

If you are looking for hunting ammo, sgammo.com has many common rifle calibers ($30-35/20 but at least it is premium ammo - Fed Fusion, etc) as well as flats of birdshot (12/20 ga was 99-105/flat for field loads)

Common handgun calibers are still 50c/+ per round

I'm sorry, I should have noted they were magnum large pistol primers. I go through a lot of them in my .44 mag loads utilizing W-W 296, and my .45 Colt loads with black powder.

Does anyone have a graph of ammo prices by caliber over the last year or so?

My stash of factory loads is good so I'll wait till it comes down from $75.

Is Tula and/or Wolf any good? It seems to be the most frequently and cheapest available ammo I see. I believe I read where the powder was very corrosive?

I wouldn't shoot it in a machine gun (irreplaceable if kaboom) and certain guns are known to kaboom with it due to combo of the steel case and gun design (FAL especially).

But my CZ75 and 9mm AR build gobble it up like mad.

FWIW the Wolf 123gr FMJ 762x39 stuff is giving me 2moa groups at 100 yards out of my new Howa mini-action bolt gun. I've ordered reloading stuff for it (well, dies and a case trim gauge), but since I'm moving all of my ARs to 762x39 as well I've got a few thousand rounds on hand already... And 762x39 is already down to 32c/rnd for the Wolf stuff.

You generally cannot shoot the Russian stuff at indoor ranges. Some are militant about it and will run a magnet over your ammo to check for steel core. I don't care about beating up an AR bolt with it. They're $40 or so to replace and the cost savings on that ammo was/is more than that on 1000 round cases.

I stay away from tula. They have been known for squib loads.
Wolf is good but a rebrand of various factories in Russia. I watch the factory it comes out of. vympel is known for very high quality.

If you can find it. Golden tiger is the gold standard for 7.62x39.

Isn't steel case also coated with something that can foul the works?

Wolf and Tula are very inconsistent rounds IMO. I had a bunch that I figured to use up in practice and had so many misfires in my 1911 that I went to a heavier hammer spring, which did not change anything. I changed the hammer spring back to the lighter one and used decent ammo...whattya know...no more problems.

Yes, laquer coated. Can supposedly cause issues if you don't clean your gun, get it good and hot, and leave a round chambered.

FWIW - Wolf rimfire ammo is good - now made by Ely, used to be made by Lapua ...

Is that near the Missile Complex? Wasn't that Major Kong's secondary target?

Dallas. The original line was Dallas. They had to change the line after JFK's untimely demise...

Walmart here in Lincoln finally has the shelves stocked with 22 Long rifle. They are selling federal automatch 40 grain rounds for $18.73 for a box of 325. While that price seems outrageous, I just looked up the same box on ammunition to go and they are selling the same thing for $65!
