LOL. My dad used to be so stingy with shells that he would squirrel hunt, but only take shots where he could get two with the same shell (bird shot).

I'd tell you to look for a .44 mag but you'd probably have the same problem with ammo.

Step right up cap'n 150 rounds. Don't be shy. I'll even shake your hand after I take your money and say "thanks" I'll even purposely miss once or twice so I don't make you feel totally incompetent with a weapon.

If you need to shoot 150 rounds per month to practice... you don't have skills

And FWIW, I'm just bustin your chops for the jackassery of the quoted text below How the hell you come up with what you did is totally beyond me. Ignorance of or disdain for guns and shooting? That's a hoot man!!

Maybe you should spend more time on body control and have some trigger work done on your rifles. Practice proper grip with your pistols too. THEN go out and shoot. You waste a lot less ammo by learning the basics first.

BACK on original topic.

I did an inventory today. I'm in "pretty good" shape. Mostly, need some PD for 9mm. Short enough I'm going to make a couple of purchases. Honestly, the prices don't seem THAT BAD for PD. Target ammo is outrageous. I was used to paying $25 for 20 for TOP rated PD ammo. Now middling stuff is around $1.15 per round. .223 VMAX is cheaper!!!

The PD ammo hasn't seemed to make the jump that the FMJ target ammo has. Personal Defense ammo for the 9mm is something that I can actually find around here. When I ordered my bullets from Rocky Mountain Reloading, I could get the FMJ's a bit quicker than the hollow points because they produce more of the FMJ than hollow.

My Marlin collected dust for over a year back when. I wasn't gonna break it in with my revolver stash, and shelves were empty of everything ... so... snag one when you get a chance

At this point, the only thing available in my price range is the Rossi. I really really want the Taylor Alaskan Takedown in .357. The point for it to be my bug out gun. 2 guns, 1 ammo and the rifle breaks down into two pieces, and made of stainless steel.

If you plan on scopin the Rossi and it's anything like their 44.. you might want to reconsider.

I just got an E-mail from a friend and he said that Marlin is closing it's doors.
The one Marlin I have has a Boyd's Laminate stock and the upgraded Tech-Sights.
Inexpensive rifle but is very accurate. 795.
I probably will never run out of 22 LR.

Marlin was bought by Ruger.

There may be a glimmer of hope for the shooters among us.

Found a handful of online spots today selling 9's for .70 - high, but available.

Stopped by a local shop as well today and they had 9,40,45 and 357Sig on the shelf - 1 box per caliber limit with a high price - but available.

While I hate to pay the new prices, at least it is an option. Way better than the empty shelves of the last year.

I have enough FMJ on hand. I needed some PD and bought some. 200 rounds for around $200, plus tax and shipping. Honestly, bad but not that bad. The FMJ is selling for north of $1/rd.

The .223/5.56 is selling for less than 9mm. Something is wrong with that!

Last weekend........

I went to a small local gunshow on Saturday. I saw a few interesting things, but affordable ammo was not one of them! Bricks of 22LR were for sale at $100 or more per brick! Most centerfire ammo was going for $1 or more a round. Gun prices were at retail or above and most were either AR15s, AKs or some sort of plastic pistol. Very little wood and steel to be seen anywhere! The only thing I bought was a small OTF (out the front) knife just because I like pocket knives, especially of the gadget variety. Cost all of $15.00! It probably won't last too long but will be fun while it lasts! After the show, I went home and hugged my reloading press!

I think I just need to branch out and explore new options. Does anyone know of a company making an AR in 30-40 Krag?

There is a company making an AR-15 in 30-06.

Where is the picture of the raccoon?
