We are getting one of these systems too.
Like others here, we have had a problem finding primers for our reloads.

You question shines a spotlight on your ignorance of (or disdain for) guns and/or shooting.

So a professional basketball player can take 5-10 practice shots in a month and say 'its all good'? Does a professional driver take 5 laps in a race car and say I'm ready for the Indy 500? You have to hone your skills to be the best you can be.

Lets turn the tables. Porsche people don't need more than 5 gallons of gas to keep the car in running condition. Why drive it so much? BECAUSE WE ENJOY IT.

You don't need ammo to get proficient with muscle memory.

Dime drills... the work.

Really? Tell that to pro shooters, sportsmen, and self defense experts.

I agree that drill helps develop the trigger pull and a little to train the shooter for sight alignment, but nothing for recoil management and re-acquiring the target.

I don't go to the range to put rounds through the same gun all the time. I build and modify guns and need to test them out. If I buy a new gun I want to use for CCW duty, I need 100 flawless rounds or more through it before I trust it. Sure would rather discover problems at the range than in a life/death situation.

Dude... that's F'ING hilarious. I own and shoot multiple guns. I'm just not into pissing away ammo. Let's go shooting sometime. We'll see if you shooting 150 rounds can out shoot me only popping off a few dozen. We'll start at 100 yards and work our way out past 300. Let me know when and where. I'll just use my trusty old 22/250. You bring what ya got. I'm willing to bet you can't out shoot me.

Maybe I'm just lucky and know how to shoot? I've never had to practice much to get good at shooting whatever I'm shooting. A good friend kept telling me how much harder it is to shoot a compound bow than a crossbow so I bought one. In less than 20 shots, that's paper for setup and then getting pins sighted, I was touching arrows and had to stop shooting at the same spot on the target.

One thing I've been practicing with my 9mm is raising the weapon from holster to shooting position with my eyes closed and a target on the wall. I try to make sure the weapon is on target each time. But I'm a gun hater... whadda I know?

I don't shoot much .... but I can shoot ...

I'm not gonna outshoot the best ... no matter how much ammo I waste either .

Get a precision air rifle guyz .... if ya gotta shoot when ammo is scarce imo.

Same as it's been for a dozen years now ... but on steroids. Follow the $$$ ...

Neither will I. I do miss from time to time. Matching the gun to the ammo does help a lot from what I've found though. The most target practice I've done has been shooting 3-5 shot groups of test loads to find out what combination my rifle likes the best... so about 20 rounds to find the combo then about 12 to get the rifle dialed in. My biggest concern now is being able to keep enough IMR 4320 around to feed my 250. It's what the gun likes the best but they discontinued it last year.

But again...big gun hater here.. and I hate shooting!

Shooting is fun. I especially like Saa’s and levers. .45s for the bang and 22s cause they are cheap and just as much fun.

A friend was telling me the other day that .22 ammo is going up too. I haven't seen or even priced any because I don't shoot .22lr. I break out my .22 mag for anything 125 yards or closer when I'm groundhog hunting.

Guns and shooting is not just about the tool . Its getting together with friends and foamily and competing, laughing and enjoying each other company. Just as the same as any other activity. Used that activity to teach my kids and their friends about being responsible and using your brain before you act.

I used to buy the ammo cans of reloads whenever I went to the Gun Show. Life got busy and then Covid hit. Couldn't go to the range so the ammo just sat on the garage shelf.

Now with the shortage and looking at resale prices, I'm sitting on $3k worth in todays prices of 223 alone.

Tough to find for less than 25 cents/round I've been having good luck with bulkcheapammo.com lately and bought 2000 rounds at 15 cents. Site updates every 6 minutes.

Shooting.............

I'm not shooting 150 rds per month, more like 450! We still have a steel plate match each month alternating between rimfire and centerfire. I usually shoot in 3 classes, stock pistol, stock revolver and PCC. That usually works out to between 450 and 500 rds. My little single stage RCBS press is working it's poor head off trying to keep up. I've probably got enough "stuff" to keep it up for at least another year before getting down to emergency only stores!

People who don’t exercise their rights don’t mind when the rights are restricted. If you only shoot once a year the ammo shortage won’t affect you. Same principle if you only read one book a year.

Well, I was planning to buy a .357 Lever gun. Not now. I can't find any .357 Magnum or .38 Special ammo.
