credit due. -Well played Nick.

I know that I have avoided that OT/PARF mod job. What happened to Daniel D.?

BTW, you newbies do know how to move a thread, right?

She didn't have to repeat it...just not lie about it. That is why/how she started a international phenomenon. Telling a whopper when everyone in the place (and all viewers) could clearly hear otherwise. 'Believe the lie I tell you and not your own ears." We have been asked to do that lot by the media over the last year or so. That is why it is so funny. It is the perfect example. Even better than the one claiming a "mostly peaceful protest" where arson, looting and vandalism destroyed many millions in property.

Do you even hear yourself?

So much emo nastiness that your point is paradoxical and hard to believe.

...and he thinks he would make a great moderator and has volunteered. Hmmm...that sounds a bit rough around the edges.

I wasn't fooled. She wasn't trying to change history. What was she supposed to do? Honestly, while doing an interview on network TV live, what was she supposed to do Fint? Honest answer.

Not lie. Just ignore it. It had nothing to do with her interview.

"You heard these drunk Nascar fans right Brandon, they're not cheering you rather they are saying f$&k Joe Biden."
What world do you live in Fint?

I'm all for more moderators as long as the folks doing the moderating can stay impartial. As someone once said "there are fine people on both sides."

One where people who lie are called on it. There was no question as to what the crowd was chanting. Listen for yourself...like the rest of the country did.

She coined the phrase. No one else. She should have copywritten it.

I disagree regarding your assessment of why the term is used.

"Lets go Brandon" refers to a blatant lie a member of the media told to obscure the fact that people were chanting the phrase you refer to regarding Joe Biden. It was just an obvious and pitiful attempt to dishonestly protect a politician by telling the audience that fans were chanting something they were not (and you could hear them clearly in the background). It was much like when CNN told us protests were peaceful last year when you could see multiple buildings in flames behind them. It is not an attempt to bypass the filters, it is meant exactly as it is said "Lets go Brandon"...as an indication that the press lies and was caught doing so...in a most hilarious fashion. An attack on the media vice on the President. You could make the case it is political...if an attack on the MSM is political. Doing so is admitting the press is political and favors the administration enough to lie for them (exactly what "Lets go Brandon" represents). The media has always been fair game here...and left wing commentators and SNL have been posted here often (like in the Aaron Rodgers thread). Banning free speech is a slippery slope. Tit for tat takes an awful lot along with it.

Is your interpretation incorrect?

No, I can buy it.

But you know that's not the whole story, far from it.

It's OK, you can say it, no one will think less of you for being honest.

crime and punishment threads should go into PARF

how can you talk about some lunatic going on killing spree without getting into politics?

I don't know...we have never defined what is meant by politics here. I can see not discussing political figures, but almost anything/everything can be defined as political if you try...or not.

Thank you.

I like pelican because this place has mostly a hands off view of expression. Not all formums are this free. On another forum I started a thread about buying an adventure motorcycle and another member suggested a Benelli. I was suspicious about the Benelli and its low price and I figured that it was made in China and I looked it up and I was correct. I posted that I'm avoiding goods made in China if I can and I got a little political. We're all dealing with this virus mess because someone, or a few someones, over in that country were irresponsible and they let this bug get out. That post got deleted. Maybe they have a zero tolerance rule about politics. I didn't bother asking.

Other forums like Democratic Underground I would be banned withing a couple posts. DU is an echo chamber of leftist cheerleaders.

Censorship is alive and well on many sites like FB and YT. If you want to keep free speach free you have to let people speak their mind.

For what reason do you anticipate you will be needing it?

pavulon 11-07-2021 11:41 PM

There is ample space between expression of an opinion and vomiting all over the place and everyone multiple times an hour, day or week.

I'd have to look back, but I'm not aware that I've ever brought politics into a discussion in OT unless the topic was inherently political. I try really hard to keep my political beliefs out of OT. There are people here who are on absolute opposite end of the political spectrum from me that I've had great conversations with both here and by telephone.

Hell! I offered to go to Patrick's house to help fix his furnace when he was having problems and offered to help him install his new two post lift recently. I was helping Denis try to find a place to stay for a wedding he was attending recently when he reached out to me. The fact that I like to play in the mud doesn't mean I like being dirty all the time. :D

That's the problem here lately. Seems like even the simplest of topics, no matter what it is. seems to turn political, which then turns to personal.
