Seb had 13 in 2013 on a race calendar of 19 races. 2022 has 22 races on calendar. Not to take away from Max but it isn't exactly apples to apples. For historical reference, the 1972 calendar had 12 races. The strange part is at least for me it doesn't seem like Max has won 11 races this year. As if someone else has won a bunch but I guess that is my recollection of the start of the year. It is always hard to compare years to years or eras to eras. Hammy had incredible good fortune and a car that almost never broke. I remember in one of Shumi's early years at Ferrari his car flung a half-shaft out and that was a DNF, not to mention his injury at Silverstone that took him out of most of the season. And who can forget Phil Massa getting plonked in the head by that little spring in Hungary and missing a few races.

Definition of irony:
DeVries runs a great race and is widely praised by the media and fans He earns points in his first race with little time in the car to prep. He is significantly faster than his "teammate" who has been driving the car all season. He is voted "driver of the day" in his first F1 race the stewards let him off easy with just a reprimand for unsafe driving. |

Well, he has to pass to get there. The races are far better this year now that the cars can follow closely. Lots better than another Mercedes total domination with a clearly superior car for 8 years. More passes through the entire field.

In all fairness, Max is getting a bit of help from the Scuderia.

You have got to give it to RBR+Vers. They've gotten to grips with the new regs better than everyone else. Ferrari and Merc look helpless to offer any threat to them. And as if Verstappen needs any more creidibility, there is his team mate Perez.

Seguay to 2023, yikes its a lot of races. Two pairs of races have major travel requirements. Feel bad already for race teams.

It's official now , Williams announced today they are parting ways with Nicholas Latifi at the end of this season . No replacement has been announced . I would imagine a lot of phone calls and text messages are being made .

Ah, Latifi... It's lonely at the back I suspect.
So here I was looking for FP1 and FP2 on ESPN App today.

Re: Herta.
My sense is that the FIA is just using it's power to put Andretti in 'their place' and Colton is a pawn in their game because of the way that papa and figlio Andretti tried to just bust open the gate to the grid by throwing money and the power of their name (and complaints to the sporting press) at the FIA and F1 instead of kissing the ring and bowing to the throne. Also, without any knowledge, only a projection or maybe a hunch I have an inkling that Mario is a detriment to Michael getting a car on the grid. I may be totally off base there, but it really seems to me that a door was slammed shut that should not have been. I'm probably wrong . The FIA were probably glad to open the grid to Andretti, but it's a billionaires club and millionaires aren't as welcome as they used to be.

seems to me Michael would be the detriment, not Mario. F! is not about racers, its about profit.

I don't understand the system at all. Max points = 40. Herta has 7 Indycar wins in the last 3 years = 280 points. This year, the Andretti cars were pretty much a disaster. The article says you need 40 points in the past 3 years for a Super License. What am I missing?
Also, the points system is heavily biased to F2 (or biased against Indycar) depending on how you look at it.
