Top Fuel champion Joe Amato had to quit racing because of detached retinas.

Aidan discusses the Eagle and the Eagles' driver.
Good diversion for a rainy weekend as motorsports is winding down for the season

I had the privilege of seeing the Spa winning Eagle at the AAR facilities in Santa Ana (not part of LA) when it was getting restored for the race winning commemoration in Belgium. I also got to see the car run at a subsequent shakedown at the Streets of Willow Springs. If any one is interested I can post pics and maybe video. That car was also at this years Amelia Island Concours as part of the Eagle group. It really is gorgeous.

Yes indeed. This is the car I see when I think of F1.

Have a real soft spot for the Williams when it was under Williams ownership. The company culture was genuinely built on a 'everyone is part of the family' foundations. From my experience I think the team on their own under the current owner is in an extremely weak position for the long climb back to the top If Porsche partner up with them this will only accelerate their ascent but for many reasons I think Porsche will enjoy any success sooner by going it alone. Same as Redbull will, by going it alone without Porsche ie having 100% control of their own destiny from a fresh start The whole Audi and Porsche entering F1 I find the most confusing is that the two companies appear to have no intention of sharing a common engine/drive train. Its plain to see the loss of performance this approach is causing Alpine. Without the engine failures they've had 4th in the constructors would be theirs races ago. Sincerely hope Williams rises back to the top because as a team they've achieved monumental past success but unfortunately F1 is a brutal sport as past results count for nothing when chasing championships Look back to how many years have passed since Ferrari or McLaren won a championship, which was many, many years ago |

I think it is interesting and not at all surprising that Honda bailed out on Red Bull when they had engines low on power, and going kerblamo. They finally got it together, and have a winning engine, just as they got away from F1. So now they see winning with Red Bull and they want to have their logo on the car again.
Williams will have a really hard path to win. Porsche has top level engineers, but they have a lot to learn to make a competitive reliable F1 power system. I can't imagine Porsche and Audi don't share some components and manufacturing just to keep costs down. They are after all, the same company. The Porsche families own the majority of VW, Porsche, Audi, Lambo, Bentley, and the others.

Respectfully, I don’t see Porsche having any issues creating a reliable F1 engine. They have gone 24 hours at full tilt to win many times

It's going to be an interesting sprint race. Almost reminds me of a reverse grid at a Saturday night bullring, and a few heavy hitters will be hoping to move forward for the Sunday race. Will carnage ensue? Only time will tell! Stay tuned!

My dvr did not capture the end of qualifying. I’ll have to find clips.
Congrats to Haas!

First pole position for an American F1 team according to the outlets.
What about Shadow Racing Cars? They had pole position in 1975 and was at least founded and initially based in USA.

Alonso needs to get his eyes checked. Second time in two races that he has misjudged an overtake and hit another car. It wasn't his fault with Stroll, but he could have given himself more leeway to make the pass.
Great sprint race.

I bet Vettel had a talk with Stroll after his bone head move on Seb . Great save by Seb in the grass at speed .
