Flying Wild Alaska, anyone ?

I'm surprised not to see any threads on this show yet, what with all the airplane guys on this board... It's on Discovery HD, and as a guy who hates reality shows, I must say I really enjoy this one !

Lots of "bush pilot" stuff, bird strikes, cool landing on riverbeds, really bad weather, landing with mega crosswind, or such strong headwinds that the plane(s) appears to be standing still, the Tweeto daughter is cute as....an eskimo (but not very gifted as a pilot in training), all in all, a lot of fun to watch....

Yes, I'm sure there are scripted moments or overly dramatic renderings of minor issues if you are a pilot, but this show makes me want to go take flying lessons each time I watch it (haven't flown solo in 22 years, oops)... Discovery HD, check it out !

I watch it. Cool stuff. The daughter is very cute. She should get her own show.

Good show, I've been enjoying it. Flying in Alaska is quite different than flying down in the lower 48 (I flew a couple of summers up there many years ago). The people and communities in AK look at aviation in a much different way compared to down here where an airplane is an annoyance to most.

I've watched the show, it makes me what to go back.

It's pretty well done.

Alaska the fishing and flying are unbeatable.
Two out of the three of my most favorite things.

So I take it if the Tweeto daughter flew you to camp site, you'd have all 3 ;-)

I like it because all of the people actually act real, i.e. intelligent, interesting, funny human beings, unlike all of the other reality shows where the stars are vapid, selfish scumbags.

Agreed that they often play up the drama, but even still, it is highly entertaining.

All I need is some big wheels or floats and she's there.

I watch it once in a while. Interesting that a big operation like that still does the small bush stuff and the CEO is so involved. I"ve flown with alot of bush pilots (some alive and some not anymore the mortality rate is scarey)

I like the show, and I do not even need Discovery HD.

Love Alaska! I got to say that it doesn't get as much love as Hawaii, but both are equally spectacular in my book.

BTW, Is this the same Ariel Tweto you guys are talking about? I think so.

I remember that Moses. It's also the first thing that came to mind when I saw this thread. I thought it was best that I didn't say anything.

Roger that ! Hanging out with her would be a lot of laughs I bet. Very "Bubbly"...... In fact, I think they should call her 'Bubbles".

Not sure she will ever make a good pilot though. She just doesnt seem to have the 'right stuff".

Friend of mine flew for Jim Tweeto a while back. I told him that I was in love with the Tweeto girl and he said that she was a cutie when he knew here but she was still in diapers.

If only I was 100 or so years younger and she was a bit older... what a smile.

I went to Alaska once. Took a floatplane. The pilot kept the door open as we taxied (?) through the harbor. He said it was because if a boat hit the plane, he'd get out. I had no door. I took a helicopter fishing trip in New Zealand. My head rattled against the cockpit the whole way. I had a big ol' headache by the time we arrived at the river where there was one fish with no mouth. I was in a small plane going to the San Juans. The pilot banked and slipped hard to see something - a sunbathing girl, I dunno - and I almost lost last week's lunch. I think I would enjoy flying a small aircraft - until the crashing part - but I have never enjoyed being flown in one.
