Lazenby was very good as bond and the movie was terrific due mostly to the ending IMO

i could see the next bond being less gritty, as we seem to be in a bit of marvel/unrealistic escapism phase of things. bond does well during these times i think, its always been easier to do a less serious bond, than a more serious bond.
Angelina Jolie and Charlize Theron have done great jobs at playing Bond-like characters. It's possible for a woman to pull it off (although Glenn would HATE it).

Are we sure he died?

They could always show him crawling out of some jacket based protective capsule like the inflatable ski jacket in one of the movies and then straightening his tie and showing up on the radar.

Well, if they can reprise "Top Gun" then JB is viable. Actually I think Daniel Craig has one more in him but I understand he's done. Hard act to follow that's for sure.

The only reason I might not be all that responsive is that no matter what they say, CGI will be a large part of it and I'm pining for an old fashioned spy vs. spy movie that is half way believable.

It's definitely one of my favorites, but I don't have one, there are several.
We visited Gimmelwald, a small visit just below where this was filmed, back in 1998 for several days. Pretty expensive gondola rides and I was in school back then so it wasn't in the budget.

They have to resell Bond to every new generation.

Man bun? Not likely IMO... "Double O" will always be a "man's man".

The next James Bond, big beard and mustache with old fashioned glasses black rimmed glasses. No hat he sports a man bun, but may also wear a beanie at times, often with a scarf artfully draped. Always wears skinny jeans. Drinks PBR usually, but open to IPAs or anything "really hoppy". Drives a Prius or Nissan Leaf, and always hypermiling.

Only in a Bond film could you call a woman "Pussy Galore" in Gold Finger......and get away with it.

I miss the pre-politically correct days! Honor Blackman loved to say she was Pussy Galore to the studio executives to watch them squirm. Cool lady.

Pussy Galore
Octopussy
Plenty O'Toole
Holly Goodhead
Xenia Onatopp
Mary Goodnight
Honey Ryder

And I think most of those names came right out of the books.

The Broccoli family, who owns the franchise and produces all of the films, are good friends of mine. They are definitely looking for the next Bond, maybe they’ve already found him. It has to be someone young because it’s exceedingly difficult to find a new one and they want him to last for a couple of decades, at least. That’s straight from the horse’s mouth, anyway.

They want to keep making the films because it’s their dad’s legacy and it’s their life. They enjoy it, god knows they don’t need the money. I’ll try to get some insider info when I see them next.

We seem to be headed back to a Cold War so Bond can get back to real business instead of arch villains in space.

Our age is stupid as hell. So we will have a stupid James Bond.

I feel for Peter Dinklage. If he was 5’2 they’d cast him and fake the rest.

James Bond signature things that make him Bond, is the ability to seduce the beautiful girlfriend of the evil genius intent on destroying the world and getting her help. The Vodka Martini, fast cars, looking good in a Tux, and the ability to fight lots of henchmen and some monster henchman in the end of the movie before the evil bad guy dies a spectacular death.

I know Hollywood loves the 90 pound stunning beauty that can take down three 250 6'6 professional bodyguards in seconds, but a male Bond has to have an epic battle for 10 minutes and destroy the entire facility.

When considering a new Bond, Tom Hardy would easily be my first choice and quite possibly be the perfect James Bond. Unfortunately, his age (46), as noted by Speeder will likely mean he doesn't get a chance to play the role. I would argue he's probably got at least 10-12 years of Bondness remaining. A 4 film run would be enough for me to give him the role.......but I'm not a Broccoli.....
