140 today on I-17 north of Phoenix. No traffic and 1100 rpm's left to red line. No more balls though.

You need another bracket in your poll.

I had the 930 up to 178 one time. One time was more than enough.

I have lost track of the times I have been up around 160 though.

139 in the '72 T. Speedo said 145-ish, but it was cutting out on the rev limiting rotor at 6700 (supposed to be 6500 per the number with the rotor). A subsequent dyno run showed the 139 in fifth when the rev limiter killed it.

140+ on a Triumph 955i Daytona. Too darn fast for a Harley guy. I've hit 120-ish on a much modified ironhead Sportster. Felt faster than the 140+ on the Trumpet.

67 on my road bike going down Stevens Pass eastbound. Too darn fast to be wearing spandex, a tee shirt, and a styrafoam beer cooler on my head. Can anyone say "street pizza"?

100+ in both a flat bottom vee-drive with a 454 Chev on twin Holly 1150's on top of a Weiand tunnel ram, 12.5:1 compression, .600"+ lift cam, etc.; and a "friend of a friend's" twin 500 ci (Mercury, me thinks) offshore boat. Once again, too darn fast (to be in a boat).

150 or so in my old '69 Super Bee bracket car. We re-geared it with a friend's 3.23 pumpkin one day just for the hell of it. Took some plates off the pumpkin-less car and took it out to "see what it would do". Timed on a stopwatch by my buddy riding shotgun (no speedo).

How about another catagory to make this more interesting. What's the fastest TEST drive you've taken?

Mine-130 mph in a 01 BMW 540i sport. The dealer was foolish enough to send me and a friend out alone. Upon returning he was still clueless as to why we were grinning ear to ear and heat waves were rising off and from under the car (had to brake hard to make the exit ramp-a block from the dealership).

Funny thing was he tried talking me into the 530 instead because it was "about as quick as the 540 up to 100 mph-and how often do you go over 100 mph?"

I feel like an amateur on the roads - 135 or so in the 951, about 110 in the 944 and about 125 on my m-cycle.

I regularly used to push 200+ knots in the Be99 though. . .

I did 120 in my Grand Am a few times. It was governed at 135 but it took a lot of road and time to do that. My fear of yet another speeding ticket kept me from pushing it further. I haven't stretched the legs of my 944 yet.

The summer between high school and college my best friend (me with him) set the cruise control at 120 in his Jetta when we drove up to Alpine Valley for a Phish concert. We ended up leaving a half hour late and arriving 45 minutes early. I will never forget when, on the way home from the concert, I convinced him to slow down. No sooner had he begun to decellerate than we had cherries behind us. We were happy that he "only" clocked us at 90. Then again, had we been doing the full 120, we would have spent the night in jail. (Wisconsin state trooper LOVE Illinois drivers...)

1982 when I weighed 125-130 took a 1978 400cc Honda hawk to 110 mph and held it there for a couple of minutes.

2004 targa off, windows rolled down, took it up to 140mph. Actually the last look was 138 mph, but both hands on the wheel staring at traffic way up ahead getting larger.............holding it, holding it............blink quickly and eased her down. I'm sure it topped 140 if only for a brief moment.

Stupid things I only do once, just to see if it can be done.

130 at the top of the Esses, Watkins Glen

140 on Saturday, 4500 feet, smooth air, 2700 RPM in the Citabria.

All this on a Lycoming IO-320 . . . not a P&W F110!

I know this does not sound fast - had to be there. Approx. 60 mph with strong tail wind across a frozen Cass lake in a small hovercraft - that has about 6" of hover height.Typical speed across land/water is 30 to 45 mph, tail winds are dangerous as they can induce plow-in.

Approx. 35 mph on a mountain bike down a hilly street no helmet. Don't know why this felt so fast, know it was not.

Shagging the bumber of a car on frozen streets of Dearborn (near the Rouge Plant) about 35 mph - goes under dumb things high school kids do.

Nah. It was a 2000 GT. Actually very stable at speed.

I did 110 (I think, as the speedo stopped at 85) in my 1985 Plymouth Turismo Duster. I consider that more stupid than anything. I'm glad I've matured with age. (By "mature" I mean that I drive better cars faster.)
