Fastest I've ever gone on a vehicle I was piloting was 168 on my 2003 Kawasaki Z1000 naked bike. No windshield to keep the air calm in your face. It was a violent experience to say the least.

Fastest in a car was 145 in my buddy's hopped up 82 'Vette. That particular ride ended in the car being totalled. We hit the side barrier on a bridge and the entire front of the car was ripped off. Lucky to be here.

Fastest I've ever driven a car. 135 in my '87 930. I didn't want to push it as the tires were dry rotted and the car hadn't been inspected yet. Then again, 135 on bad tires could be considered pushing it! Speed doesn't scare me. It's hitting something at speed that does!

My first mid triple digit run was driving my cousins 1973 911T. I tipped 150 in it and was addicted to Porsche 911's after that.

My 1984 Mazda RX-7 reached terminal velocity at 117 MPH on I-95 in South Florida, the MR-2 I was racing obviously had more top end as he would catch back up and pass me every time. At least I walked him initially.

My current RX-7 has hit 160 on the track and 165 playing with a Ford Lightning. It has lots more to give but I am afraid to find it. Maybe at Sebring someday.

My MINI Cooper supposidly has a speed limiter. I have hit 135 on the track with it and 140 racing to Miami International to make a flight. (I missed it)

Had the A-6 up to 130 and it seemed like it was barely moving. It was un-nervingly smooth.

Looking foward to exploring these possibilities with a 930 in the not so distant future.

150 in the AMG was not quite as scary as I thought it would be-but close.
130 in the SC was scarier than I thought it would be and very noisy.
140 in the 996 was a little noisy and a little scary.

I pumped up the tires to about 40 psi for each of the speed runs on our answer to the Bonneville Salt Flats- I-55 Southbound West of Joliet. Rarely any cops since there is nothing out there except eventually...Peoria (our answer to Barstow, CA)!

145 years ago. 135 lately is about as fast as I'll run the car. It is geared such that it runs out of breath around there anyway.

155 in a comp hydro
142 in a blown gas flatbottom, both in the quarter mile.
No way would my heart take that again, but when I was in my twenties my "attachments" were larger than they are now.

That's no where near as fast as Grady but the butt dyno gets multiplied by 10 when you are on the water

I have never exceeded the posted speed limit on a public roadway, well maybe just that one time when I was using every lane of the 22 freeway to try and keep it on the road. it's amazing how sharp the apexes are on a freeway at that speed and how bad the suspension is in a hot-rodded '69 440 GTX

168 / 1988 928S4
168 / 1988.5 Toyota Supra Turbo
145 / 1984 Carrera Targa

Blew a rear right at 150 in the 928S4 one night... Those cars are unbelievably stable.

About 67,000 mph at the moment.

(from a heliocentric frame of reference, of course)

Just over 60 mph. On my road bike, going down the east side of Stevens Pass on Hwy 2. Nothing but spandex on my arse, a tee-shirt on top, and a glorified styrafoam beer cooler on my head between me and eternity. You think a 911 at 130 feels fast...

150 in my 84' 911 targa, it could have gone a little bit faster but I was catching up to traffic.

About 160-165 mph at a NASCAR driving school. Wanted to go faster but the car had a governor on it.

120 on the V-star1100 (big fast cruiser) started to get a lil shaky for my liking

160+ in a modded Mk3 Jetta granted it was downhill but 160 was 160 and it felt good =)

the p-car has seen maybe 25mph, that's why the carbs are off it and being rebuilt by someone who knows what they are doing.

but i hope it sees fast soon

Joe

100 mph 1970 Volkswagon Squarback, Nevada 1972 when dad just had to see if it could.
90 when I was driving at 16 yrs old to try and catch air on county line road in Littleton in 1974 (Did get a small bit of air)
125 so far in the 81 SC A lot safer than the VW!!
My dad told me a time he and his buddies in the 80's were going to Kansas from Denver on I-70 in a 928 to go bird hunting.
Cops pull them over and as the beer cans get thrown in the back seat, the cop says "I clocked you with my radar doing 98 mph"
Anyway driver gets a ticket, signs for it and then asks the cop "you better get that radar gun fixed" cop asks why and the driver says "becuase we have'nt had it under 120 since we left Denver". I knew the Driver and believe every word.

Cool Top Speed....

The fastest that I have ever gone in an autombile was 145 in a 1973 2.6 ltr Capri RS clone that I built in 1975. This was a normally asperated but highly modified V6 that would hit the 7000 rpm redline in 4th gear! AND....this was on Ga 400 just north of I285 in Hot'Lanta back before it was mega-developed.
I finally decided to sell that car before I lost my license or my life!
