How do you think the results would look if you took away guns from law-abiding citizens? Better, worse or about the same? I, for one, do not want to find out.

The problem in America is that too many parents stopped being parents years ago, and lost contol over their kids. How many of the above killings shown here are in the ghettos of Detroit, Washington DC and so on where the kids run wild at night.

We just had a 20 year old kid shot and killed last week in Phoenix. An 18 year old girl he stopped to give a ride to robbed him, then shot him because he was so nice. No assualt rifle, just some poor uneducated biatch who did not want to work for a living. Now she will go to prison for 10-20 while we pay for her not having any guideance as a kid.

Regarding kids playing with guns and accidently shooting themselves or another child. Its sad but then it would be just as sad to see them die by drowning, a knife or dog attack. Get off of the frigging pulpit, its an accident!

Australia just had their weapons taken away from them yet the death rate is still higher than Germany and England, whose citizens are, in a limited way, allowed to possess some weapons.

Hitler got the list of weapons owners in 1935. In 1936 he confiscated the weapons so he could walk over the public and take over the country. Is this really what you liberals want?

I would say that is a very sad tragedy. She would need all the love and support her family and friends could possibly give her. To suggest that compounding this tragedy with the murder of her unborn child would somehow even it out, somehow make it better, one would have to consider that unborn child as something other than human. I guess that is partly how the "pro choice" crowd gets to sleep at night. The fact of the matter is, no matter how tragic, there is another life to consider in all of this. The one life that has no voice yet, who is entirely dependent upon others to make choices that prolong that life. I know that is a lot to ask in this "me first" society, this society of personal convenience above all else, even another life. That says a great deal about you if you consider the priveledge of bringing a new life into the world as "punishment". Wow. Yup, nothing good can possibly come of that situation, so let's allow (or tell) the young lady to kill the little bastard before he or she can even prove to be a blessing or a curse.

I dont agree with a lot of what Ted says, however unlike a lot of people with his sort of radical ideas, he usually has a very intelligent, honest, and often hysterical explanation, so therefore, I do have a certian respect for him.

I gotta admit that I actually enjoy his hunting show. Even though I could never shoot an animal unless I was starving, it is rather entertaining.

Geez stevepaa, two in a row - I hope you don't think I'm picking on you. Anyway, the "children" both the CDC and HCI use to compile their statistics range in age up to 21 years old, where they reach full legal "adulthood". The NRA published information on this years ago, and unlike the CDC or HCI, they fully annotate these reports and provide all references. Anyway, the vast majority (like 80-90%) of the CDC/HCI "children" turned out to be inner city gang bangers involved in the drug trade and prostitution, among other things. They were also between about 17 and 21 years old. What brought this to attention years ago was the HCI purchased billboard ad that said something about how often "children" die by gun violence. The billboard had about a dozen cute kids' portraits on it; they averaged about 7-8 years old, with the oldest being perhaps 15 or so. The portraits selected in no way represented the actual demographic of the victim group that appears in the statistics quoted on the billboard. They (CDC/HCI) don't want you to see the faces of the real "children"; they aren't nearly as cute, and don't tug nearly so hard at the old heartstrings.

Personally I cannot see much use for a "street sweeper" 12 gauge that they banned a few years ago but once you start where are you going to stop?

Like 350 says, the legal and normal hunting rifles can put out the same or more firepower than some assult rifles. Just because a rifle looks mean should it be illegal? How about knives? Where does it end?

I think in Switzerland there is compulsory military service for everyone. I think they serve 2 years when they are 18.

So is it just an accident when some @ss kills some one in a car crash cause he/she was out drunk driving? It's not an accident it's irresponsibility. There should be harsh punishment for those gun owners

Some accidents do require that someone is punished for their neglegence but then again we don't have too many people calling for banning assault booze and vehicles because of the actions of the irresponsible.

To add to that, did anyone else catch the tragic story of the young man that was beaten to death at a Pony League game over the weekend? It seems another young man flew into a fit of rage and clobbered him with a bat. Two families have been devastated. It is being approached as a problem with the kid who wielded the bat, not the bat he wielded. This is as it should be. We are surrounded by potentially deadly weapons in our day-to-day lives. When one is miss-used as such, the normal response is to go after the person that chose to use it against another person. We only see the additional charges leveled against the inanimate object if it happens to be a gun.

Correct, almost EVERY MALE in Switzerland has a automatic weapon. Scary when nothing happens and everyone is safe isnt it? Kinda like the conceled weapons permits that most states have these days, now crooks do not know who has a gun or not.
