Howards a great guy - with an even better sense of humor.

Visit the eBay auction and read the questions to the seller. Those are better than following the auction itself!

Oh, it's up to $36!

Q: Dear Sir, My name is Stefan. I am the owner of the wrecked enzo that you took this part from. Please give me my hose back you bastard. I have lost close to $1,000,000 and i'll be damned if you're going to make a profit on my loss. Cease and desist this selling of my hose immediately.
Feb-22-06
A: Proceeds are being donated to MADD. Please see previous response as to unverified authenticity of this part. If, however, you provide documents to show you are the actual owner, I will cancel the auction and return the part

-----

Q: That's not a heater hose, that's the guy's weiner. Once you own an Enzo, your member will morph it's own Ferrari part number. Maybe you should cancel the auction & ask a little more?? Is there a BIN?
Feb-22-06
A: While the length is impressive, I have been told girth is more important.

----
Q: so you picked up a piece of hose on the road after an accident. You're a bottom feeding piece of **** dude, get a life.
Feb-22-06
A: May I assume you're not planning to bid?

I would imagine he's one of the three guys in front of the Ferrari:

They finished 48th out of 50 at Le Mans.

But, that's "if it were me." YMMY
Point well taken, Zeke. The humor may be sick, but the story about the incident begs abuse. The 'driver' who disappeared, losing it on a straight road, the one airbag deployed, etc. The fact that no one was seriously hurt, the error in judgement is just that, hurting only the owner/driver. There could have been an oncoming car, jogger, what ever.

Some of the response has been nasty, but most get the joke. I would imagine the owner feels about like the ex wife of the guy sellling the wedding dress, or Clinton after Monica told all.

Not pretty, but funny in a painful sort of way.

Hey Howard,
Ya, I get the humor, but I'd be a bit embarrassed I lost it in a straight even with an elevation change or bump in the road...
it won't end with his LeMans buddies etc.

Mercury is it... it saved me $$$ over 21st. Professional discount
helps too.. do they insure Enzo drivers with a reckless driving and dui conviction?????

Story in the LA Times says they aren't looking for the "driver" of the Enzo anymore... just a matter of time before DNA proves who was behind the wheel.

Anyone who hasn't done so needs to look up eBay auction #8040875409 and read the (now 43) questions and answers.

I especially liked the one asking if there is an invisible German included...

My friend who moves about in the world of supercar owners tells me that comprehensive insurance coverage on Carrera GTs and Enzos is $20-40K per year, and that most owners he knows carry only liability. In fact, the only way many owners are even offered comp on such a car is if they have every other possible policy coverage (homeowners, umbrella, etc.) with the same underwriter.

I wonder what the cost of replacing a telephone/power pole is? I wonder what the civil liability might be for depriving 100 Malibu homes of power for over 24 hours? I wonder what jail time the guy will serve for having an accident at 120+ MPH while intoxicated?

I'd imagine it would be difficult to determine how much ($$$$) loss is realized by depriving the community of power for any specific period of time. Even in my neck of the woods, when the power goes out, the utility company denies any liability even if you can prove what your fridge full of food is worth. The cost of the pole is easy. Last I heard they ran about $24,000(parts and labor) to replace a single pole. Most likely this looser will be on the next plane out and living the life in another country no matter what charges they hit him with. These guys don't hang around to pay their debt to any society.

Thumbs down

I agree... taxpayers will eat the cost of the pole and any overtime etc. needed for the investigation... maybe the DA will collect that... who knows?

The A-list lawyers (probably several) will indoubtably bail him out and he won't ever serve a day in custody-- if you don't have a CDL, (license) to start with, foreign nationals just show their passports and walk... no licence to revoke...
ala Gumball3000...

Perhaps he will be given a fine of some sort and probation, but that is chump change for someone in that financial position...

Sad... the destruction of such a fine automobile...

I could really care less about the POS car, aren't there 398 of them left? I't just a status symbol for a class of people that mostly suck, if you lined up all of the billionaires in the world next to all of the biggest criminals, you would need a program to tell them apart.

Tech, you're probably correct, but some do carry full coverage with a serious ($10K) deductible on damage to their own car. If he has liability coverage it will pay for the pole, and if anyone really bothers to bring a suit for their 'pain and suffering' while the power was out, that, too.

Remember these people are in a different league. We advise our clients never to insure against a loss that would be less than their monthly income. There are quite a few folks out that make over $1mil per month. Back when SBC was Pac Bell, they carried $100mil liability coverage with a $5mil deductible on their fleet.

Just some trivia..

Ok slow down... we don't know what really happened there...

Don't tell me you have never taken your car to 100mph on a deserted straight stretch of freeway... So none of us has the moral high ground here...

When I destroyed my 911I hit a power post and 3 hydrants. This caused the closure of a cinema, 2 bars and a Starbucks.
It was me and a passenger, no other vehicle was involved...
To the passers by it could have looked like I was doing 100mph and lost it because I am an idiot with a lot of $$$ driving a Porsche.

BTW since nobody witnessed what happened they had to believe our story (which was true) that someone came off a parking lot and I had to chose between hitting them or the curb.

I was not going that fast but the car was destroyed.

I wonder how they can determine he was doing more than 100mph.

A guess a lot of people take pleasure in believing that this guy did not deserve an Enzo in the first place and this is the proof he was just an idiot-show off with a lot of $$$...

Funny from a Porsche board.... MMMmmm
