turning 40 this week, what to expect?

will things start to dry up and fall off?

might i expect to start waking up earlier on weekends now that i am old?

my boss says the slow stream and additional trips to the bathroom will really cut in to my productivity during the work day. any experience there?

should i get my doctor to set me up with some viagra no, or wait until i find a new girlfriend?

will i start to complain about my long walk to school when i was a kid?

i have started to take a vitamin supplement, lost 25 lbs and getting prepared for this for the last 5 months, what else should i know, expect, look forward too turning this age? i have heard 40 is the new 30, any truth to that?

show me the light, as Ive never had a birthday weigh on my mind like this one is.

all wisdom you can share would be valued.

T.

Toby I turned 50 last year so I can still remember turning 40. To me nothing special. Physically nothing had really changed. I was still in the Army so it was easy to get a baseline on my physical fitness. I would recommend you get a complete physical so you have a baseline of your health and can spot any changes in the future.

40 is the new 30.
That's what they say.

I say Bull$hit.

Happy birthday!
My advice is to start drinking heavily.

Oh, and Kurt can remember his 40th birthday, but not what he had for breakfast.
Sad, really....

regularly work the ol' prostate out and many aspects of your life should be fine or improve.

Let me know how it goes, I've got 5 more years. But then I don't feel a day over 20

.... until I see those young punk kids running around like idiots... (good thing we were never like that, huh guys??)

I hear that you have to start watching for hydraulic failures. Also, watch the rear main seal for leaks.

When I turned 40 I got real depressed for about a week - looking back on my life goals such as wanting to start my own business and drive a Porsche.

Two months later I went out on my own, ten months after that bought my first Porsche.

Don't get angry, get even.

feel your pain...i turned 40 about a month ago. i was so down about it, anticipating it, that i turned off my cell phone and just asked my family to stay away from my house that weekend..didn't want company. in the past couple of years i've lost love and my career..i have no kids..just me alone, turning 40. on the other hand, i was out this weekend and i saw a man having a 40th b-day party. the band played a song for him and he got up and danced with his mother...really kinda made me regret not doing something similar. my mom has been like my best friend through all of the problems of the past couple of years. in hindsight i should have done something similar with her and also brought along my brother and sis in law. once the initial shock begins to wear, i guess it gets easier.

lol..tabs.

dude, i never wore those shirts , i was 5-6 years old then
't was the ones before me that wore those

i grew up on new wave, followed by early hiphop and later on house music...i had my mailing adress in disco's and clubs from 16 till my 26 years, i've only recently turned it down a bit to fund my porsche rebuild, and i'm sure i'll be hitting the clubs again pretty soon now...

Just a number, no big deal. I feel as good now as I did 20 years ago.

One word of advice, it's a good time to stop any unhealthy habits from the past, these have a way of biting you in the a$$ when your 40ish.

Mr. Happy still shows up for duty without fail.

It's just another day.
I did notice that around 40 the magazine companies started sending me the blurry font versions of my magazines. I need stronger light or glasses just to read them.

well, like i said, i just turned 40 in january..my baby brother just turned 27 yesterday..and here we are last night at his b-day party at outback. you can be healthier and stronger than at 20, i know i am. i powerlifted for a number of years, but now i'm trying more of a bodybuilding number..no need to push it so much anymore, but back in november after a 5-year hiatus, i trained for 3 months and did a 405-bench press and a 500-deadlift in a local 'push-pull' meet. not bad on the eve of turning 40..i couldn't have done it at 20 (i will say that at 30 those numbers were 440/600..so time has taken some away). i now do 'periodized training', which means i bodybuild train a few months, then strength train..and keep alternating, plus eliptical interval training 5 days a week for half an hour after my hourly workouts. i'm 6'2" and 240, but am slowly dropping bodyfat, maybe a pound a week to shoot for 225 and abs i can see clearly again. i drink very little and only on weekends, don't smoke (well, cigars..but i don't inhale). i'm about to test to be a strength and conditioning coach..new career after flying. i'm not gonna mistreat my body, as my dad has done for the last fifty years with camel smokes and jack daniel's..steady..
