Excellent suggestion, but only if it's not fire season. A "cut off saw" will throw sparks (and will draw attention unless blocked by a Van or whatever). ;)

Mammoth Mountain at about 10:00 a.m. this morning.

Far away from Mulholland.

Well, not that far. There is Mulhollands' aqueduct.

Almost looks like it could be.

How about Willow?

that commercial might as well say, "Ok the cayenne is lame on it own, but you are family with great cars!" or "Cayenne, its kinda like those..I guess"

I just thought someone might need it for home impovement, or something. I would never suggest doing something illegal.;)

That is a RedFlex camera system. It is powered by solar which means
it is vulnerable. It transmits on cable, wireless broadband or ptp through it's own VPN. Ten second scan with a laptop will reveal if its signal is by air. If not it's cable. Pretty easy defeat and you can be far away when it's done.

Hmm, I wonder what would happen if I ran past the stop sign? Maybe in a purple barney suit a couple hundred times?

They're trying to make it look like Mulholland. Perhaps on the same rented road that they used to make King of the Mountain, in Griffith Park.

Of course not! I wouldn't either...and that's the right thing to say in this public forum. Let's not forget that obeying the law is paramount, and that we all love Law Enforcement.

Remember, "To Protect and to Serve" is on every car. Don't you just love it?

Bob's tonight anyone?

SCCRA 01-11-2008 02:08 PM

My wife was listening to the news on AM last night on our way home from dinner. As we pulled up to a camera next to the turn lane, the radio was overcome with static. As we pulled away, the static went away! I'm thinking these cameras transmit the information(radio frequency). Maybe they could be jammed! I'll have to get my frequency counter and signal strenght meters out and check. Could be a fun project!!!!

...and probably uber illegal so please don't talk about it ever again.

gostraight 01-11-2008 02:45 PM

speaking of "uber". I think it's an awesome day for "uber GT2" to get to Bob's and play a little.

Most likely it was just stray interference or a weak AM signal.

The wireless broadband systems the cameras operate on are the 1900 MHZ / PCS Band. They transmit on 1850-1910 mhz. They also receive signals for maintenance and diagnostics on 1930-1990 mhz. This is also a ping channel for “keep alive” otherwise the signal hangs up. They are basically a cell phone just higher up the signal spectrum with a built in VPN.

On the positive side these devices “must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.” Not implying to commit anything that is illegal but anyone who has ever used a shortwave radio knows what this means.

Personally it would be easier to just get the ticket and contest it. Traffic cam citations are very easy to fight because of two of our most important rights.
An actual witness is required- and due process. Not going to go into a long dragged out detail but if you read the law your rights are in your favor. It is very difficult to provide a credible witness when they are on a company payroll to enhance the city coffers. Due process without a signature, an honest judge won't even go there with a good motion to dismiss backing it up.

The MRCA was created by Joe Edmiston. His "intentions", were to buy land in the Santa Monica and surrounding mountains and then, after a period of time, turn the land over the the State Park system. He has, to this day, not turned one piece of land over. He is a real dick and has a gigantic ego and power trip. He is allowed to carry a gun and can frequently be found, "patrolling" his turf. The only good thing that has happened out of this, is that the land is protected and won't be developed.

I am, unfortunately, connected to him in a round about way and can only speak of my strong disliking towards him.

Enough, I'm getting angry typing this!
