cool beans ..
more 1FASTMF picts to come ... (Jon Ward designed, fabricated and owned that thing ... it had nothing to do with ZZ Top except they knew bad and nation wide when they saw it.)-- (For those that were not there ... in the 70's- 90's if there was a "too fast to have a VIN" in Los Angeles .. odds are Jon Ward had it pass thru his shop.... I dropped into this thread as it was about the RSR ... but why aren't there any picts of it besides the ass end in a garage? You have me interested ... drag it out! As I remember back in the day .. Brad Davis was fresh off of "Midnight Express" ....... "mulholland racers" was supposed to be a Brad Davis film and "a serious movie" ...... before the studio and Harry Hamlin botched it ... anyway .. would love ta see a shot of Seņor Banning's car pushed out of the garage ... |

That's sort of the reason I started this thread. Chris???? |
next week boys!...next week!!!

Hope you know Chris if there is anything I can do to help on the RSR (even if it's just helping push) all you have to do is ask.

As you have stated before Derek, the book needs a revision. It has been re-edited by Rich and Jackie Adams, I have almost 20 more photos to add, and I have been working with Victor to fix the CRE story to his/their satisfaction. Information still needs to be added concerning the MRA, TVL, SCCRA, and the modern day group coined by yourself called the MIRRC. I will contact the appropriate folks to complete the story soon. To make more time to fix the book, fix the cars, and develop my wind-turbine, I sold the Testarossa Jan 1, 2008 and resigned from Vice-President of the Ferrari Club. Here are some photos of the Testarossa just before it left my house. The guy that bought it was the head engineer and designer of the Sea Sparrow Missile for our Armed Forces. It was very interesting to talk to him about his job. He drove off from my house in the dark for Arizona after a day of Missile tests at Port Hueneme Naval Station in Oxnard. Pretty gutsy. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1201991366.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1201991447.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1201991486.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1201991538.jpg |

The car starts and runs if fuel is poured down the injection stacks. It won't keep running due to the Mechanical Fuel Injection Pump (R3Y) being clogged with fuel laquer. After my house fell down in the Northridge earthquake in 1994, I could not keep starting the engine regularly as I had done religeously since 1976. The pump needs to be removed and sent out to the cleaners. Before driving, the stainless brake lines, pads, and all brake fluid needs replacement. The Blue Streak Racing Tires are rated for 6 hours and I've been using them for 32 years so they really need replacement. The car has never had seatbelts. This is due to the fact that the slant roof with it's Aluminum roll cage are so close to the driver's and passenger's head, that in an accident it's gonna be mush brain anyway. I figured it would not be good to go part way on that one: hence no seatbelts. We'll put seatbelts in now however to make it more street legal. The gas tank and fuel lines were flushed recently along with a new fuel pump. So, brakes/tires, seatbelts, and some kind of motor work. One more detail, registration. It's never had Catalytics even though it's registered as a 1976 car. I may have some problems with California Smog Laws. The engine casing is from a 1971 2.2S. This is because the 2.2 has the big distributer hole that allows a Maserati 12 Cylinder Distributer for twin plug operation. The car was registered as "Special Construction" and has not been modified from original configuration. I'll be taking it up with the referee. Wish us luck on that one. It has to be registered, I'm not driving "Outlaw" ever again, times have changed. I'll try to come by your shop this week |

I also visited Kevin's shop this weekend. Went by on Saturday morning to get a feel for early 911/912 restoration. I'm shopping for an SWB 911 and wanted to learn about the work Kevin does. I liked the shop and had a good time. Thanks for the tour and the education Kevin.
Still looking for my SWB. Jeff |
