There is no Substitute!

The guys wanted to sit in the car to see how it felt.

Here is Chris (porcupine) enjoying himself at the wheel of the Carrera.

Good lighting made for this shot.

Radu mentioned that he liked the wheels polished instead of Chrome. I agree, it has a certain lustre when polished.

With a successful day and everyone happy (especially myself), we called it a wrap.

So as some of the guys took off we could see them on Mulholland from my house. (Marlon Brando house in center, Citywalk in left distance)

Porsches screamed off in the distance on Mulholland. What a great Mulholland Experience.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this thread.

Especially a thank you to Derek for starting this thread, without it, years might have passed before the Carrera ran again.

By the way, the story ain't over. The Rennaisance is coming.

Wish I could have joined you guys for the special moment. Why do you always do these things on weekdays? :p

nameisbauer 08-31-2008 01:33 PM

I know Noah, we are the only ones with jobs!

I'll be there when it Moves!

My sister is making another cool video of the day's events so everyone can see what it was like.

We are planning another engine starting party (weekend) with a barbecue, hot dogs, etc, and I'll be taking passengers on full throttle runs up my long driveway. Not sure if anyone would be interested in that. ;) Might be boring.

This is the most fun we can have until new tires and registration arrives.

More to come...

Just remember, lfot gets the first ride. And you must wait for me to be there with video in hand. If anyone's got a lipstick camera to donate to the cause (mounted on the dash and pointed towards the passenger seat), it'll be well worth the effort. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/vuur.gif

You have more than made a lot of people's day. I personally have been waiting for this day to come so we can enjoy the event of your car coming alive again. I rarely post but have been a faithful reader of the thread. It has been great fun reading about all the history in and around your activities. Especially the car regeneration; enough cannot be said about what you have given us readers; I can only guess how you must feel!!!! Have a nice party with your friends.

Great effort and congratulations on a well deserving project. Enjoy the car and the trips you can take in it. What about the other 911 setting next to it??? It looks kind of dusty!!!

Again, congratulations and again thanks for letting the rest of us participate with you in your endeavers in bringing the car to life.

I've got a Sticky Pod if you want it.
It's a great camera mount - inside or outside. :)

Here's one for Chris....long time coming. Nice talking with you yesterday about the car.

Maybe we can wake Noel Nosseck up and give him a blast from the past.

That was very nice of you to say and I greatly appreciate it, thank you Steve.

This fantastically enormous thread that Derek started became more than a story about a long retired old Porsche Racecar.
It became a story of all the racers, their cars, and their experiences.

Old racers from the glory days of the MRA, CRE, TVL, ACR, and SCCRA came out of the woodwork and told their stories. Other old time racers that were regulars on the hill told their stories as well as current day Mulholland Racers.

If you have read all of this thread you know that Mulholland is a story of many cars and people from many eras.
This "Mulholland Story" belongs to us all who have enjoyed cars and especially cars on Mulholland.

No single car, group, or person is more important than the rest of us.
For without the groups, stories, and participation of many, there would'nt be a Mulholland story to tell.

I applaude everyone that loves cars, loves going fast, and those that hold Mulholland in the reverence it derserves.
You are all a great bunch of guys.

Thank you sincerely,
Chris Banning

Thanks Jeff, did you take that backround photograph coming westbound just before Carls? It looks very familiar. ;)

My sister was over today taking extra video footage to make her production. It should be quite interesting. It might take her another week to finish editing and getting it ready. I think we'll all enjoy whatever she puts together.

Note: Last thursday was the last day of Performance Products. It is now located in Florida where the new parent company is located. No more showroom or warehouse any longer in Southern California. You can get all your Porsche parts from Pelican now.

Hey K!

We were talking about you after the RSR started. Wondered where you went to.

August 17th, 2008 in the wee hours of the morning. Just short of Carls is correct. The full moon that night was awesome. No headlamps needed. Reminded me of the old days. Sort of on the way back from the 16th Mulholland meet many hours earlier. I cannot resist making a left at Mulholland and Laurel for a detour across the course on the way back to the valley. Somethings never change.

I'm sure Chris will have the fuel leaks fixed before bringing it out on Mulholland.

Dave, is there a link you can post for these vids? Our system at work won't allow them to run the way you have them posted (embedded?), and we're on dialup at home.
