Hey Chris....did you know that they're revitalized the Van Nuys Cruise? They had an initial outing a month ago and there were over 500 cars there.

Thanks for letting us know about this. Not sure how long it will last or if it even began but looks interesting.
Those of us that cruised Van Nuys in the 70's/80's know how really fun it was.

The Van Nuys Cruising Association announced today that back by popular demand, cruising will return to Van Nuys Blvd on Wednesday, June 10th....8:00 pm and on......
They are asking no drugs and alcohol, no light to light runs, burn-outs, open headers or illegal activities in an effort to keep things cool with law enforcement.
Tell all of your friends and club members....

I got a chance or two when I was in high school (and shortly thereafter) but then they started cracking down on the cruising. Same story with Mulholland...

Not yet....I'm beginning to think Chris has been working on his Photoshop skills ;)

Noah930 07-07-2009 09:56 PM

Again, nothing other than bills, work journals, and junk mail from the postman, today.

Banning 07-08-2009 10:28 AM

Excellent

I was just contacted by Peter Linsky of Excellence Magazine.
Excellence sent me this higher rez copy (it was hi-rez until I resized it) for September with a congratulations for making the cover.

This month there was a slight delay but now Sept. has now been released to the vendors.
I ordered 10 copies from Autobooks.

Let's see if we can have 50 or more "not yet" posts before it hits the stands and mailboxes.

We're at 6 now... c'mon people, post up.

:D

Jeremy Cottrell 07-08-2009 12:24 PM

Congrats Chris! That's awesome. And to think, Ol Derek is behind all this.

porsche4life 07-08-2009 12:27 PM

Its not here yet either. I wait not so patiently...

lfot 07-08-2009 12:33 PM

I DO expect someone to scan and post the article ASAP.
Copyrights be damned.

Heel n Toe 07-08-2009 12:51 PM

Ah, you know he can't do that... they already branded the car as infamous... if he scanned the article in, he'd probably be hauled off to the pokey.

And we don't want that. :)

Don't do it, Chris!

slodave 07-08-2009 01:15 PM

BBQ at Chris' house!

Went to Van Nuys Bl Cruise last night.

WOW ! definitely not P car territory, but for a 3 block distance, it was like stepping into 1973 all over again. Ok..ok, there was a lot less hair and more paunch showing :D, but some of the cars were very cool.

Guys were doing laps back and forth and two large parking lots were full of stuff to see. The Gallardo and Aston vantage were out of place, but the 550 spyder replica fit right in.

For mul content, perhaps some of you OLD guys (me inc) remember Gary, the guy with the raised-for-handling-on-mulholland 58 flip front Vette. He was there, lousy toupee and all, and the car is identical to its last outing on Mul upmteen years ago. Including bias ply tires "those radials don't handle right" ;)

He has sworn up and down up that he never raced it up there, but i personally (along with a bunch of the CRE group) saw him haul a$$ thru, to our amazement one fine night. " Dang, didn't know a teeter-totter could go so fast "

Any cruising going on or just parking in the lots?

TRE Cup 07-09-2009 12:26 PM

definitely driving back and forth,
But the weaker brained amongst them would start doing stupid things like mini burnouts in traffic. Impressive? maybe... but to joe average being blasted by 100 decibels plus and clouds of smoke by the car next to him ? = not smart at all

that will bring out lapd and shut down this step back in time
