Probably a stupid question, but who is Stephen Mitchell (other than a former Ferrari owner that is). Was he/Is he a film maker by trade, cuz that's some pretty good stuff. And how many 19 year olds drove Ferrari's? That's some very cool stuff. Wonder what happened to the 250 Spyder Jeep?

Information below;

Yes.... it is time for the PCA Los Angeles Region Zone 8 Concours d'Elegance!!!

This year.... it is being held at the Greystone Mansion in Beverly Hills. Entering your vehicle will put you in select company with some rare and exquisite Porsches already entered. The early entry date ($50) is fast approaching - August 1, 2009. We encourage anyone thinking of entering to do so by this date. We don't want to have to turn any member's Porsches away - but when we fill up, we fill up. So.....go to our website and download details and an entry form, and get in the mail!!

The Concours will also be a spectacular way to spend part of your Sunday morning just looking at cars, talking with fellow enthusiasts, and having lunch with everyone.

We are all looking forward to having a great time at Greystone!! Be there...!
Hey Chris,

Is this an open to the public thing. Not being a Porsche owner (yet) or a PCA member this is the first I've heard of the event. Public invited? Cost? Enquiring minds want to know!

Oh ya, and just out of interest, what size T-shirt do you wear?

Thanks,
Kurt

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, of course, but with nice Ghiblis available now all day long below $100K, and the thirty something GTO's all worth north of $20M apiece, that may be one of the worst trades in history.

After a few tries I was able to reach Bob Gordon. He is the event person to contact regarding the Greystone Mansion Concours d'Elegance. He said the event was free for the public and individual lunch tickets could be bought for $20.00.

Please make it if you can. (Large by the way).

Here are some photos that I took of Greystone to get an idea of the event's atmosphere.

Front gate and gatehouse.

Driveway up the hill to the Mansion. Downtown Los Angeles is visible on the horizon to the left.

One of many incredible gardens.

The Mansion from above showing Palos Verdes in the distance, Century City is in the right foreground.

The outer Courtyard. From here is an unbelievable view of the city.
There are seven unique and extraordinary fireplace chimineys that grace the Mansion. Here is one of them.
Tours will be available.

The Mansion is believed to be haunted.
It has a very dark history...

Maybe, but probably the worst trade in history may have been when L'Ebe Bugatti traded her father's Type 41 Royale Coupe Napolean to Briggs Cunningham for a new refrigerator and about $150.

What's to deny? Looks like whoever shot the video just drove along at 25 mph and then sped up the film to make it look like he/she was going faster.

Very nice Derek.

Perfect lighting the time of day it was shot (around 7:15 pm?).

I especially like the way you had the camera down low, it gives the illusion that you are going very fast when actually going regular speed.

Also very cool how the low camera angle makes the double yellow sweep back and forth in front of the car, I like it.

And don't worry, you can barely hear your car's exhaust.

Barnes and Noble got the Sept issue in, so I picked it up last night, but I haven't even had time to leaf through it yet. Tonight I'll be reading.

Great article and photos.

Personally, I'd have liked even more (whole issue dedicated to Mulholland and the Porsche and you guys that are driving it now), but then I'm greedy.

A preview of former GTO owner Stephen Mitchell's documentary on this famous Ferrari.

Thumbs up Way to go Ernie!

We have talked about Ernest Borgnine before. He lives in European Straight on Mulholland, a few houses east from Jack Nicholson's and Marlon Brando's houses. I've heard that Mr. Borgnine a real down-to-earth nice guy. He is part of the Mulholland Movie Star residents of which there are many.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Actor Ernest Borgnine will receive a lifetime achievement award from the Rhode Island International Film Festival.

The star of television's "McHale's Navy" will receive the award Friday at a Providence screening of his new film, "Another Harvest Moon."

The 92-year-old from Hamden, Conn., is best known for playing the skipper of a Navy PT-boat in a TV sitcom set during World War II. The show ran from 1962 to 1966.

His other film credits include "From Here to Eternity," "The Dirty Dozen," and "Marty," which earned him an Academy Award.

Borgnine served in the Navy for a decade before turning to show business. In Rhode Island on Wednesday, he toured Naval Station Newport, where he once trained to become a sailor.
