Been thinking about your project, Dave. Paint the whole thing signal orange, walnut cradle for the base, couple of walnut spars to hold the glass using the case as a stressed-member of course, and voila: uber cool coffee table.

Thanks, but I think I'll stick to bare metal, probably see about getting the fan shroud and fan painted or powder coated.

F#%&!

I just had 1 hour of my life stolen by TopGear America and I saw a preview of episode 2. They are going to show Tanner Faust's drifting on Mulholland.

Like we need more bad drifters messing up the Snake.

Think of the rubber that is being laid down.... It'll help with traction.

Yeah, but it was at least 1.5 years ago. The first big rain washed it away. But not the cops.

They did raise the speed limit to 45, though.

Not sure I want to go through 200 pages to see if this has already been posted:

Funny thing is this does not impress me. I could get to the top in less than half the time.

I met Tanner once, really nice guy, and genuinely talented.

The thing that stands out about that video to me is, unlike Ken Block's videos where it is rehearsed over and over to get the right shot, you can see that Tanner only did that once, in one take- there are no previous tire marks on the road from practicing.

I'm sure that as a passenger most of us would be (uncomfortably) impressed in that continual power slide up the Snake. However most of us also know that sliding takes off a lot of time and that a fast car driven smoothly would take far less time to reach the top.
This was for show, not for go! Entertainment only.

On another note, Saturday I followed a Big Rig Car Carrier on Mul.
I thought that they were not allowed on Mulholland Drive.
Watch out!

Over the Double-Yellow in The Identicals...

Blind turn at the top of The Esses...

Over the Double-Yellow past The Esses at Sheen Ravine...Yeoww!

I sure would'nt want any of us to be at "racing speed" going the other direction.
So crowded, too much traffic, idiots making 3 point turns in the middle of dangerous spots...
Mulholland Drive has become far too dangerous during the day to drive at any fast speed.

Very funny, Boy!
Maybe you will unlucky enough to ride shotgun with the old guy someday.
Then you can testify what a Slug he is on Mul. (after you recover)

Joking aside...Dave and I have been planning a video to be shot on Mulholland Drive. We have been mulling over getting a film permit so that I won't go to jail when it's posted on Youtube.

We have some great ideas for the shoot with heart pounding, black outs, loud exhaust, and some of the greatest turns on Mulholland being highlighted.
I expect it to be quite fun to watch if you have liked this thread.
It will hopefully give an idea what it's like to drive on Mul in The Carrera at racing speed.
Entertainment purposes only, of course!

Note; The various videos that I have stored over the years about Mulholland might be included in the next book as a accompianing DVD. Just a thought.
Also, VVT had a great idea to have the web address's to each video referenced in the next book.

I enjoy watching Tanner drive because he is not just a drifter. He competes in rally, drift, ice racing and time attack with multiple podium placements and national championships.

I love watching him get under Paul Tracey's skin on super cars exposed, albeit that it is a tv show and they probably do a lot of it for ratings. Non the less, it is fun to see what some of these guys can do.

Now, where did I leave my 8 spare sets of rear tires so I can go out and try that........

Tanner Foust is a professional racing driver, stunt driver, and television host. He competes in rally, drift, ice racing and time attack with multiple podium placements and national championships. He was slated to become co-host for the American version of the motoring television series, Top Gear, on NBC and filmed a pilot before the series was not picked up. The series has since been picked up by the History Channel and Foust was the only pilot presenter to be picked up when the programme finally made it on air Stateside. He has also hosted other shows including SPEED Channel's SuperCars Exposed, SPEED Channel's Redline TV and ESPN's Import Tuners. Tanner has been a stunt driver for films such as The Fast and the Furious Tokyo Drift, Iron Man 2, and The Dukes of Hazzard. He is a prominent competitor in Formula D, being the 2007 and 2008 Formula D champion and is an accomplished rally racer. Foust is the first driver in Formula D history to win back-to-back series championships. Tanner competed in X Games XIII where he won the gold in the rally racing event. He also participated in Rally-America in 2009 driving the number 34 car. In 2010 at X Games XVI he got gold in Rally Car Racing and Rally Car Super Rally, driving the Rockstar Energy etnies Ford Fiesta. He also competed in the European Rally Cross Championship he became the first American to do so.

He graduated from the University of Colorado with a degree in molecular biology.

Very Impressive!
