I saw he gave a prominent opening part to Dick! I was one of his favored minion, and have one of his shop Doctors Smocks, he gave me his old shop banner, I have his shop rate sign, his Competition plaque board. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1699435186.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1699435212.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1699435236.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1699435261.jpg In this videos accuracy, we learned Charlie was not a drinker, when driving. If that is Charlie's actual Vette, it wasn't too tricked out and Chris your car would have kicked the crap out of that particular Corvette. I do question the Porsche Factory settings for an RSR for usage on Mulholland! We have a bunch of Hot Porsches and would have to soften the settings. The Factory setup is for smooth tracks, not a road like Mulholland. I don't remember if I posted fast Corvette people, Laurie Tex was a Valley gal out there, Dick Takashima ran Mulholland alot, Doug Hooper Riverside 1962 winner had his shop there below on hill, etc. Laurie Tex (KMET) http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1699435987.jpg Takai http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1699436267.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1699437138.jpg Doug http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1699437048.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1699437065.jpg |
Hi everyone. Long time lurker, first time poster. I live off of Mulholland Drive and drive it, spiritedly, often. Have been since the day I got my license.
Well, it's hard to overstate how this is affecting me. https://x.com/cd4losangeles/status/1722766577475768344?s=20 Installation of speed humps have begun on four stretches of Mulholland. The first set of four were added today. I'm going to drive up tonight to see if there's space on either end to dip a tire, but I'm not optimistic. |
Well, sporty drivers will adapt to these new speed bumps. Motocross bikes and soft suspension cars with plenty of wheel travel will become the new norm.....
These bumps will be installed from Hollywood all the way to the 405 before long. 911 Dakar anyone ? |
To answer the question about the Riverside layout, it looked like this:
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...d_1967.svg.png The dotted red line shows the original track and then the reconfiguration. IDK when this work was done but TREcup probably does because Dave raced there. So did I in an enduro kart but the work was done by that time, the mid 80's. Karts and amatuear sports cars used the connector at T7 to what they called T7A and called the short course. Can Am, IROC, etc used the entire black line while NASCAR took the shortcut from T6 to T8. I believe the long track was just over 2.5 miles but I'm not sure. There were many elevation changes notably where the red arrow is before T7 was a rise that made entering 7 blind until you were up to the crest of the rise. There was also a considerable rise going up into 6 which then became essentially an off camber turn when the course flattened out in the turn. It wasn't really but felt like it. The shortcut made that a lot easier for the big stock cars to make that turn. And lastly, T9 was banked and a pretty good banking at that. However, IIRC, the racing line was not up on the bank much but pretty much tight around the inside stripe. And then drift out while those pitting would stay inside. That was a good pit entrance. |
same here, and it doesn't look like u can get around them. The best bet is probably smashing them with a sledgehammer/jackhammer or something.

Speed Bumps
Quote:
These new set of Speed Bumps are east of Laurel Canyon according to the map. This area was not a preferred place to race around in and is quite a ways from "The Racecourse" between Coldwater and Laurel. Let's hope that the City doesn't put down Speed Bumps all across Mulholland. Like Dave said, to adjust, you would increase suspension travel, raise the car, and soften the spring rates. Then you could just fly over those darn Bumps. ;) |
Humps at speed.
Also a long time lurker that lives off Mulholland. Took the girl out for a spirited drive to you know... blow out the carbs. Did my usual sprint off the line at Laurel Canyon heading east and into the first sweep by the fire station at speed... Didn't know about the humps... Well you can hit them pretty fast in a pretty low car. I was probably down to about 60 when I hit it and although it jostled my fillings it didn't bottom me out or trash my fog lights. I will say they are placed by someone who knows how to suck maximum joy (probably steals his kids Halloween candy). There's no getting around them. Too bad. I loved this section.

If you pour diesel or gasoline on speed humps, will it dissolve them?
Asking for a friend |
Quote:
We have some prefab bumps around here. You could scrape them away. |
What will dissolve asphalt?
Turpentine, or it looks like there is a product called Pavepro that is intended for this sort of thing |
Quote:
The ones I referred to are likely recycled tires. Gas dumped on Mulholland will be a disaster. Crumbling greasy asphalt with the rubble spreading like COVID. |
Happy New Year everyone. Wishing all a solid 2024

The course is going to be closed for a while. Wonder if they'll make some changes.

Banning, how long will the car be on display at the Petersen? We'll be in town April 26th for the Air+Water show and would love to see it in person.

Looks like the racecourse is washed out again.
