That's capitol B & capitol W, sir.

We walked into Ken Fairleys house and looked on his table and there were 4 unbroken Reno lead seals.

Then, to add insult to injury, fast forward some 10 years and I buy somebody's Reno Cup Car (Didier Torres) and I find that the seals are still in-tack but the intake sleeve is not there. No wonder the back of the field kept crashing.

Yeah 55 scorching h.p.(flywheel)combined with 55 entries and it's not hard to figure out what an extra 5-6 pomies could do to your grid position.Urban legend had it that the rods in Parkers car were gram weighted and selected out of over 100

Pat,I think RC has some of the best " Donahue" stories. My fave was those SS vettes that he ran in the Escort series, and the "Texas size" wheels that went on the cars during the night stints..and would dissapear at dawn.

A lil Porsche content for the thread
We went to see the Daytona 24 some years back when the 964 RSR was running (second year)
There was a very fast very together team pitted just a couple boxes over from our POC /PCA buddy team of Rick Raimist's 964 RSR
Their yellow RSR was just that much faster than all the rest of the RSRs. This european based team has raced for many seasons at Daytona and other international venues.
Well about 10 minutes from the end of the race, they pulled in for a tire change. WTF?! We had monitored their strategy throughout the event and this was definitely not in the mix.
Hmmmm.... their crew were grunting as they changed the wheels to a set of shiny speedlines. WTF?! Speedlines are light wheels!!

Oh- we got it... must have been filled with water to make weight in post race impound after winning 1st place !!!

Running a considerably lighter car for 24 hours gave them their "unfair advantage" !

Only in L.A.

Its always interesting when some rolls a car on the Freeway in a straight away in front of me. Simply lack of attention and a Jersey Wall. Ouch!!

Oh Ya !! ??

No this isn't me --- but I Know how it happened. What's the gear pattern on an automatic? PRNDL, right? Wrong, not on a '58. It's NDLR. So when the guy thought he clicked it into reverse he looked back, stomped on the throttle and flew off the truck.

Vic Curl once told me "Parkers bought 6 engines and 3 transmissions" That was in '85. We also noted that he came out of turn 7 at Laguna bouncing because he had rubber bushings stacked inside the shock tubes We were all trying to figure out what Mitch Wright and Ray Kong had figured out. Only very much later did it dawn on us as "fuel was Free" and that racing octane was not what we wanted, Alcohol was.

Just to spice things up a bit...

These photos were taken by Scott Jones at the Ferrari Challenge at Infineon Raceway.

Cars are getting ready for competition in the garages. Neat!

Check out the clean setup in this Ferrari Tent.

We all know whose car this is.

Another Crash on Mulholland (Highway)

This is the ulgy side of Mul no one wants to see. It happens.
Prayers for the cycle riders.

Malibu Times

Felony charges have been made against the drivers of a Ferrari and Mustang who took part March 25 in an alleged road race on Mulholland Drive that injured two motorcyclists. A new section of the state Vehicle Code just came into law this year, calling for felony charges if a person causes severe injury to another because of participation in a speed contest. Itamar Lieberman, 60, of Beverly Hills and Manuel Menchaca, 28, of Agoura Hills, if convicted, could face nearly nine months in prison and/or a fine of $2,000.

According to California Highway Patrol officials, Lieberman was driving the Ferrari and Menchaca was traveling in the Mustang as they raced eastbound on Mulholland Highway east of Kanan Dume Road at a high rate of speed. Lieberman was in the lead, according to CHP, when he lost control of the car and crossed the double yellow line, striking a motorcyclist traveling in the opposite direction head-on. The rider was ejected from the motorcycle and another motorcyclist made a hard brake, and was also ejected from the motorcycle. Menchaca's Mustang, unable to stop quickly enough because of the high speed, crashed into the Ferrari.

The motorcyclists, 46-year-old David Espinoa and 38-year-old Allen Espinoa, both Long Beach residents, were treated for serious, but not life threatening injuries.

Another reason to leave Malibu alone. Too many accidents, and too much publicity makes for a dangerous proposition to go blazing on Mulholland Hwy. Besides, the residents are probably ready to hire snipers on rooftops for the racers that go there. There are other, safer places to rally your automobile. The racetrack is an obvious one, but not the only one.

Angeles Crest, Little or Big Tujunga Canyon. Just stay on your side of the double yellow if visibility is an issue. I may be coming the other way.

I hosted a run thru Angeles Crest a few months ago. Just in case anyone would like to see the initial text, I have it below. I believe that Radu would especially like this drive. Radu, you need a Ferrari for your sixth car. Just kidding, your new super Porsche should whip most Ferraris, except for maybe an Enzo, F, or X series cars.

We can do a run like the one described below as long as it's not hazardous. We can tone it down a little for our run. I have the emails for most of you that I got a couple of Sundays ago. Please let me know if this is interesting to you and we can plan something fun. I will be driving to Santa Barbara this weekend, so have a great Sunday run on Mulholland. And please be polite and conservative on the road just like I illustraited two Sundays ago.

The B&B Fun Run thru Angeles Forest

Join the club in March , 2007 for The B&B Fun Run Thru Angeles Forest, hosted by the infamous Chris Banning and Shane Braudo. Our run starts in La Canada at 10:15 and proceeds up into the forest where the roads are curving and traffic is light. Ferraris feel so awesome pulling uphill at full throttle, there is nothing like it. Anything goes on these B&B runs, so check your insurance, check your tires, fasten your seatbelts and give your passenger a Quaalude, they are going to need at least one. The forest run is a fast one.
We will be kissing the guardrails at speeds above 140 mph, so watch out for bicycles. Our transition to Canyon Country just makes for even more fun, as we will be blazing down blind tight hairpin canyon roads. God willing we will reach our destination, a lovely French Restaurant on Vasquez Canyon Road where we will be treated to a sumptuous repartee. Don’t miss out on this one, sign up now. Space limited to 20 cars.
Price $35.00 per car
Contact event Chairpersons Shane Braudo or Chris Banning for more info.
