Tony,

They have not all rusted away. Check out the current issue of Automobile magazine. There is a story about a bunch (40 or so, I think) of T/A owners who recreated the Smokey & the Bandit run in honor of the 20th anniversary of the movie. Many of those shown in the article are the black/gold special edition models.

I had a red '77 T/A in college -- screaming chicken on the hood & all. 400 c.i. (6.6 liter) & only 220 hp. I wanted to buy a TR6 but I was borrowing 1/2 of the $ from my father & he felt small cars were unsafe. He would not loan me the $ for a TR6. Camaros & Firebirds were the only cars that were big enough for him & fun enough for me.

I still want a TR6.

I remember the Town & Country station wagon being very ugly to me. Those wooden panels just gets to me all the time.

Never liked the Pacers or Gremlins, but a gremlin could be had with a V-8. Rode in one once with a denim interior. The DS is pretty next to the 2 CV

Another vote for the Aztek. Which GM idiots actually OK these things for mass production?

An (dis)honorable mention should also go to the Malibu Maxx. I rented one of these utilitarian but butt ugly cars when I went to go take a look at my P-car, pre-PPI. The PO took one look at what I pulled up in and asked me what the heck it was (and not in a good, complimentary way).

Seeing as the the Aztec has had so many votes I'll skip it...

The Ford Taurus of a few years back was pretty ugly.

That Dodge Dart looks kind of funky cool in a retro George Jetson sort of way. Was that a production car? I have been to a lot of vintage car shows and never seen one.

Edit: Just googled, it was a Chrysler Dart prototype

Bert... while Chrysler Corporation had some definate design issues, I'm sure that you know the concept car you posted never made production. The Dart came to market under the Dodge brand in 1960, and didn't look much worse than Chevrolet's "shoebox" cars of the late 50's.

If you want Dart ugliness that made it to production, refer to the 1962 model.
