Years ago, had mine @ 8:00 at night (!) at Kaiser, went home and to bed @ midnight, arose @ 6:00 p.m., packed the car and then-wife & I left on 3000 mi. trip. I did all the driving, arrived at dest. 3 days later and other than some bloody skivvies along the way (jus' a leetle seepage), felt fine. No big deal at all (although the dr. wouldn't recommend doing what I did).

Many, MANY others suffer excruciating pain leading to blackouts for up to 2 weeks after the operation and then have to go into counseling for 6 months or so. But I wouldn't worry because I'm just kidding!

After having 2 vasectomys, all I can say is finally shotting blanks is a very good thing.

The first one re-grew one of the tubes together and my 3rd child was born, they really all are precious even thou at the time that thought would have been debatable.

The second time a retired Army Doc did the procedure and it took all of acouple of minutes and I did feel that one when he pulled the tubes out before snipping. He smiled and said "don't worry these guys will never re-attach again."

live rounds can hang around for a bit..

while rotating through the Vas. clinic they did a study..

cut, tie off and then cauterize the ends..

Had it several years ago outpatient, drove myself there and back. Follow recovery as doctor says. Sat at home first day with frozen peas in place, lots of TV watching, minor discomfort. When back to work as firefighter 4 days later. No Issues

But....where do all your swimmers go, now that the "exit" sign has been removed?

I had a better plan: wait until she had to have a hysterectomy.

My boys can still swim and it don't matter, and no one's been doing any unwanted modifications to the plumbing.

No need for me to get snipped. My wife got her tubes snipped after our last one was born via c-section.

Twice now, about a year apart the little buggers caused infections, didn't disappear like they should have and got all backed up. Felt like I got booted right in the boys. Antibiotics take care of it but one week every year walking around bowlegged ain't fun.

This is precisely why I asked. Have heard horror stories. I was fortunate that my wife had her tubes tied as well. So, my boys are still a swimmin' after all these years.

Word. Nobody--and I mean NOBODY--is going to be sticking anything into my junk.

Frankly, I'm disappointed at the notion of intelligent, contributing members of society taking themselves out of the gene pool. God knows the unintelligent, non-contributing members of society aren't showing any such consideration.

I had it done today. The first needle was not fun but after that it was painless. The doc and I chatted about cars, kids, etc. whilst he worked.

Doing the recovery thing now. Hopefully, I don't experience any of the setbacks that others have.

BTW- my wife has tried several of the woman devices and meds and they messed with her health to the point that we didn't want to continue.

One wife to another: "I have to be careful to not get pregnant."

"But I thought your husband had a vasectomy."

"He did. That's why I have to be careful..."

Did mine in January. They knocked me out because he said I had slippery tubes and he'd have to spend some extra effort digging around in there. I know, even reading that makes me squirm right now...

Did it Thursday, took Friday and Monday off and didn't do a thing, no pain after that. Anyone who does activity that second day then ends up with bleeding or bruising or pain deserves it. Just sit down on the damned couch, eat pizza, watch TV and drink beer (that your wife or girlfriend brings to you). Consider it the one true man vacation that we get once in our lifetime.

I'm doing what I am supposed to do as much as I hate sitting still.
