We're lenient to a point. If it gets stupid, then there are many Articles of UCMJ to pursue....last resort, we save Soldiers first if we can, they're a National Asset of sorts and we love them.

Drug addicts will manipulate anyone they can to get what they want. It will be irrestistable at times. To make it stop, walk away.

There are plenty of organizations out there that will help if the addict wants to be helped. Until then, they are adrift. You do not have the tools to save her, only she does.

As you have been told, get her stuff out of your life, change your phone number (address if you can).

You know, I was quite the lothario a few years back before I got married. I need to resurrect that part of me. I set some fun goals for myself originally: one was to sleep with at least 1 woman from each major ethnic group. black, white, Hispanic, middle eastern, etc. I've had everyone except for an asian. So I guess when I'm TDY in Korea this November I need to solve that problem.

As lame as this may sound but did you ever think of getting a small pet? I know your life in the service may preclude you from getting a decent pet like a big dog but maybe get a kitten/cat? You would be surprised at what they can do to keep you spirits up and your mind occupied. It's a known cure from depression(not that you suffer from depression) but it might help any sadness you feel.

That's how I felt. I'm a nice guy, I have no desire to screw her over even though she hurt me. I told her to keep the ring, as the feelings we felt when we got engaged were genuine and nothing will change that. I'm a huge believe in positive reinforcement and really tried to say good things to her and encourage her to help herself. I really hope she helps herself, but now that I think about it, now I'll never know. I guess it's better that way. If she does fix herself, then that's wonderful, and if she doesn't, then I never have to suffer through seeing her fall even further.

Now I can really focus on my future though. I have nothing in my way. I can focus on my music 100%, keep on writing and recording it. And in about 10 months I'll be leaving Hawaii, going back to Monterey, CA to learn a new language. I have yet to choose the language though. I was wanting to try for Hebrew. I was born and raised Jewish, and although I'm an atheist now, I would still really like to learn the language. But who knows, we'll see. I also build electric guitars on the side as a hobby, and I can put more energy into that. And I can finally buy those damn carrera chain tensioners.

The one thing I'd do is make sure the dpt. of transportation in Hawaii is aware that you are no longer the owner of said vehicle. I wouldn't cancel the insurance until you know for sure that they know. One of the reasons you pay insurance companies it to represent you in court.

Do not drink. Do productive things. Do not think about other women at this point, there is plenty of time for that.

Instead get a thick rubber band and put it on your wrist. Everytime you think about her, pull back on the band and snap yourself. And it needs to be enough to hurt. Use this feed back to get yourself to equate thinking of her with pain.

Look, even with all of this advice, NONE of us followed it either. We're giving you our hind sight. We all called our ex's. Or hugged them goodbye. Or slept with them "one last time". Or took them back, or whatever. We're just trying to help you not make the mistakes we have.
