My company still refuses to support Outlook Sync on the iPhone, drat. My options are to use webmail, which is clunky and not "push", or to set my desktop Outlook to have all my emails auto-forwarded to my ATT account, which will set me up for extra scrutiny by the compliance folks who do, in fact, review all our emails - I got a warning from them a couple weeks ago for an email I sent out. Arrgh. But more and more I could use a good web-browser on my phone, and so far the Blackberry web-browser is a piece of poop.

Getting mine in April when my stupid Verizon contract expires!

My IT guys did not need to make any changes for iPhone/Exchange functionality.

During setup on the iPhone it looks like the Exchange client hooks into the system through https.

So if they have corporate webmail running it should work without any additional configuration.

And push does work, I actually get my email on my phone before it hits my desktop.

Got mine about a month ago from a Windows Mobile device. What a difference, I love it, even got apps to help me do my job (SSH, Traceroute). Email is OK, but I find it does not always connect every 10 minutes like it's suppose to, I think it due to the coverage.

I was able to get a really good plan (up here in Canada) through Rogers, and I am paying about $25 a month less than my old plan and I get way more minutes, data, etc.

Very cool gadget, and I love the fact the music cuts out when someone calls and I can just answer it with my headphones on.

While it may not equal an iPhone, download Opera Mini for your Blackberry. I have it on my Pearl, it blows away the standard browser. Plus it's free. I think you can download it directly from the site onto your Blackberry.

Jailbreak is when you put it between your buttcheeks and set to vibrate. Sort of a conjugal visit.

sorry... dont really know, just guessed.

As far as I understand, the hangup for our IT/compliance guys is that they claim the iPhone doesn't allow them to log and archive any and all text communications to/from the phone. I think they are specifically talking about the IM application. Seems silly to me as I could simply use a web-based chat, couldn't I? But anyway SEC rules are always a good excuse for IT/compliance to say "no". And in the current economic times, they're not interested in spending extra person-hours supporting the iPhone.

Logging and archiving of SMS/IM can be done with Syphone, among other similar apps.

It means you modify the operating system on the phone so that you can run applications that are not Apple approved.

Do they have OMA and OWA setup? It sounds like it. If OMA is setup, use the OWA website for your server, and the same username and password you use for OWA. This is the same setup I've used on Palms, WM6 and on an iPhone.

I don't know how they could disable one type of phone from using OMA.

If I had one, which I would if they worked on the verizon network, I would try that GPS accelerometer which turns the i-phone into a G-Tech pro. Imagine your i-phone telling you how much hp your car makes, and its 0-60 time...how cool is that?

Alas, our system is too locked down for a mere user to do anything like that.

What we are saying is if they use the webmail Exchange option you can set up the phone yourself and they'd probably never know.
