Great concert, glad I wasn't sitting behind the lady (I use that term loosely, as I think it was a very tall guy in drag) (and it wasn't Rick, it was a brunette with a tan). She stood up all 6'2" of "her" and danced with her arms in the air for the whole concert, she was asked on 4 separate occasions to sit down so that the poor people behind her could see, but she just jumped up again as soon as the ushers went away, why they just didn't say to her, hey just stand over at the side and dance.

Not that I am against dancing, but ..... there is a lawn area for viewing and dancing, and there is "seating" for, well ... sitting.

The people behind them were so pissed off, I fully expected a bit of a brawl, but they apparently had more taste, and just kept leaving there seats and going over and asking the ushers to speak to her.

Anyway, was a great concert, I am so surprised that only three guys can make so much music and noise! But really cool.

Liked Wolf Trap Park's Filene Centre as a venue, although it was a tad hot, as there wasn't too much of a breeze getting through the big open 'windows' in the sides of the building.

Food there was terrible, but that is usual I suppose, at a large venue, and expensive. ours was a small pulled pork sandwich, two small cokes, a pretezel and a small bucket of fries, $31.50. The Midget got a large coke and a 6" pizza for 17.50, wow. You don 't mind paying for good food, but I do really get peeved when the food is terrible and you pay a heap for it.

My rant for today, my excuse for being so grumpy..... I'm tired. Don't know how David does it all the time!!!

I wish you could have gone to something at the original WolfTrap, it was awesome. It burned down some years ago and the new venue is not as good.
I as also blown away at how much music three guys can put out when I saw them back in the 80's when they sucked and were doing synth/techno stuff

oh boy, get to take Mom to a 7:45 AM Doctor's appt. Didn't know Doctor's got up that early, let alone saw patients.

I'm so lovin this VA weather in the 90s with the humidity while working outside on these antennas.

Luckily its going to be cooler the next several days. Remids me of one of the additional reasons I moved out of the midwest... yuck.

Azzy, we went to see ZZ top about 20 years ago at a local arena. We had seats on the side of the stage and we were pretty close. I wore ear plugs for everything except La Grange. Ya gotta here La Grange at full volume.

About 10 years ago a friend that lives in a small town called and he wanted to see ZZ on the upcoming show. He said thay are getting old and may not be together much longer. We went to see them then.

A couple of years ago the same friend called and ZZ was coming through again. We saw them once again. Same three guys same great music.

Back in the 70s when Tres Hombres came out I bought the Quadraphonic 8 track version. I played that tape enough that the thing broke. I could not find a Quadraphonic version so I settled for a regular 8 Track. That broke. I changed to a cassette player because I hated the 8 Track because of that second self destructing La Grange tape. I bought Tres Hombres on Cassette. That broke. I finally got smart and bought the album and recorded my own cassette. Then CDs came out and I bought the CD. Of course when the ZZ Top 6 Pack came out I bought that to get all the CDs but it had La Grange as part of that collection.

I prefer the original mix of La Grange to the remastered version on the 6 Pack. I have almost 800 MB of ZZ MP3s on my phone now.

ZZ Top is a fun show saw them last year I think. As far as doing this all the time. I'll collapse in a heap and get really grumpy. Next weekend will be a true test. Two days long hours, probably SloDave will even be on edge.

Pretty dead on to the center of I-40. I did my first cross country drive in June, would of liked to have caught up with you Okies at the kart track when passing through, but really didn't have time. Driving from South Carolina, to California, sure beat flying, even if it took a lot of extra time.

The intersection of I-40, I-44 & I-35 are within a few miles of my house.

I-35 runs from the Canada border at Duluth down to Mexico border at Neuvo Laredo. I-44 goes northeast all the way to the center of corruption at Washing DC and peters out in Baja Oklahoma at Wichita Falls Tx.

I 40 goes east to Wilmington, NC and west to Barstow Ca, 2547 miles.

I have been to both ends of I-40 and beyond in the 911.

Been coast to coast by car, plane, and TRAIN.

After college planned a lap of USA driving the borders. If I remember correctly it would have taken 22 days, didn't have an exact mileage as a lot of the miles weren't really highways. Had a 914 and speed limit was 55mph at the time.

Remember when all the speedos had 55 highlighted?
Interesting fact, here in Va I can not be written a ticket for over 85mph if I am in Peggy, that is how high her speedo goes

My great Aunt & Uncle retired and bought a motor home. They had to spend a couple of months at home to remain residents so they would park the thing on a concretee slab and stay home. When they would leave all that was there was a concrete slab that is pretty hard to steal.

Anyway they drove all over the place. They went as far south as the Panama Canal, and all the way to Barrow Alaska. They hit every national park in the USA, and just started over. They did that for over 25 years. This was long before cell phones and GPS. They said you can't get lost if you don't care where you end up. ;)

My BMW had an 85mph speedo too. It was fun to peg it on a long drive out to Fontucky in the early morning. :)

Do I ever. My El Camino had a GIANT red 55 and pegged out at 85. I replaced it many years ago with a unit from a later Monte Carlo. I had it rebuilt to have no highlighted numerals, and it goes to 115 and has a trip odometer. I told them what mileage to set it up for. I had to drive with the old spedo for a week more to make the mileage accurate. No one really cars if the mileage is accurate but me, but I want to know it is as close as possible.

Buy the way I have NEVER been close to triple digits in the Elky. The steering is not exactly precise. I bet it would do 120 with some other fool driving it. That ain't gonna happen as long as I own it.

I had the speedo buried in Peggy and think I was over 100 chasing some clown on 495, A.K.A. The Capitol Beltway, and wouldn't you know it, he and I were NOT the fastest vehicles out there. :)
The steering in Peggy is fine (shut up G ) but she is just a little on the un-aerodynamic side

The Elky is not exactly aerodynamic either. I replaced the steering box about 100,000 miles ago. That tightened up the steering a lot but the old style power steering was never particularly tight and accurate. Of course I compare it to the 911 which has all fresh suspension and rebuilt steering box. If I move the steering wheel one mm the car will change directions. It is like a laser beam.

Oh I know exactly what you mean, I was never a fan of the GM front end. Peggy is a solid axle with only two tie rod ends, and now that I replaced the crappy lower column with a decent deign she actually does pretty well, for a 5k+ high ground clearance 4X4. I usually just crank the tunes and pimp.........................well as much as you can pimp in full redneck fashion

Had a Jeep Cherokee, with the 4 liter in-line 6. Driving down I-35 from Blsckwell OK got behind a tractor and trailer that must have been carrying sailboat fuel. Saw he was going really fast and followed with the Jeep speedo way past the 85 peg. According to the miles we covered and the time it took we were doing 140. Had to really concentrate on driving to keep the Jeep on the road.

Did something similar driving to Dallas. Dropped two friends off at OKC Will Rogers airport and hit the highway. Had free tickets because one of the friends worked for American Airlines. Drove because I had an ear infection and Doc said flying would be very painful. As soon as I got on I-35 south got in with a Corvette and a Golf GTI that were going fast. All the way to Dallas the Jeep speedo didn't get below the 85 peg. One friend lived in Apts just south of DFW airport. On a whim on the way to his apt I stopped at the AA terminal. I pulled up just as the two friends were walking out of the terminal to hail a cab. They freaked when they saw me honking and waving.

Mid 70's Buicks are the worst of the GM power steering. The steering wheel was way too easy to turn and you could turn the wheel quite a bit before anything happened to change the direction of the car. I only guess the designers thought that was that luxury land barge feel.
