Yea, I know I was just jerking your chain. I liked without a TV for a couple of years. This was before the internet so there were no movies at all for me.

We have a TV. Two actually. We do not have cable or satellite. We get the OTA news and weather and have DVD movies. The kids do watch PBS kids which isn't too bad since it doesn't have commercials. When we lived in CA and Emily was about 3 or 4 we had Dish and one day Jenny (my wife) said she had an itch on her arm. Emily promptly tells her to "Get some Vagisil, it stops the itch". Kids pick up everything, especially during commercial breaks.

Jacob who is now 4 asked the other day if they have napalm in artillery shells. I told him I didn't think so and he wanted to know why not. We might have to cut back on the Future Weapons back episodes.

Mom and dad have Dish. There is never anything on. I used to watch Discover Wings/Great Planes and such. Now it is all faux reality crap. OK, Top Shot is pretty good.

I watch some stuff on Hulu these days. I usually turn the radio on and listen to music (while eyes are glued to my laptop screen ).

Whoohoo! Another shift knob out the door via Pelican. The PP staff has been great in accommodating me. This knob is slightly larger in diameter and we had to come up with a special part number (not listed in the catalog) to get things coordinated between PP, TRE, and myself.

I almost never watch the big networks or the dumb sitcoms. I do watch the F1 race in HD surround sound. The new engine noise is pitiful now but the full HD video is great for F1. We can see the flat spots on tires, the steering wheel is clear. We always just DVR it and fast forward through the commercials.

I do like the new Velocity Channel. It has a lot of good car shows. I record the good ones and fast forward through the commercials. The Science channel is nice and Nat Geo.

My wife loves the professional "sports" and watches a lot of national leagues and college "sports." She does like the F1 racing which is a real sport.

Evening Y'all,
I have decided that I can no longer act like I am 25 anymore. I billed 48 hours in the last two days, and damn I am beat.

Osx Yosemite looks pretty sweet, but their naming recently makes me want to punch things

No more Steve, and they were out of large cats. Kinda surprised they used planetary landmarks. At least it wasn't a city, that's kind of a Microsoft thing.

Apple has always had secret names for projects. One of the plastic desktop towers was the Yosemite. Remember they were working on one of the new desktop towers in the early 90's. The project was called the Carl Sagan. He heard about it and asked them to stop using his name. So, they started calling the project The Stupid Astronomer. He heard about that and took Apple to court for slander. Apple lawyers got Apple officially on court record referring to Carl Sagan as The Stupid Astronomer 16 times before the judge threw the case out.

Apple Computes had an issue with Apple Records and agreed to NOT produce music. The first Macintosh had a error or alert Beep that was an actual musical tone. They named the sound SoSueMe. It was a very long time for the Beatles music to be added to iTunes because Apple Record held a grudge against Apple Computers for getting into the music business.

I want my Panasonic camera to automatically transfer new photos to my desktop like the new OS does with Air Drop and the iPhone. The panasonic is supposed to using bluetooth, but I can't get it to work.

Know anyone that wants an old Mac Mini cheap. It's intel, but too old to run any of the new stuff. 10.6 is a high as it's OS will go.

Intel used river names for a long time.

So Rick, is it better having 40 years experience wishing you were 25 again or 25 wishing you had the brain of a 40 year old?

I don't mind the age much, but I miss being able to see up close. I was in better shape in my late 30s than I was in my 20s. I certainly can't be as physically hard on myself in sports as I could 20 years ago. I have to admit I do ever so slightly envy those of you with a job that isn't behind a desk. Some days it is nice to have A/C, but I have to make laps around campus or I would go crazy and start disabling accounts just so I could go see what is wrong and then "fix" them. I cut through to make laps inside on the below zero degree days. I don't mind some cold, but I don't like the I took a deep breath and froze my lungs cold. Today was sunny and 71*. Go figure.

How cheap is cheap? I've been thinking about getting something to use just to watch movies and stuff on the TV.

I had thought about getting a nearly new on to run a flight sim on, but I don't have time for toys like that.

And I just checked, I'm just on 10.6.8 on my Macbook Pro. I was going to update to Lion a while back but our internet in OK was too slow to download it, and then I said eff it, it ain't broke, why fix it!

It's 2 ghz core duo with 1 gig ram, 160gb drive, CD, mid 2007 Mac mini 2,1. VGA adapter. Has the power brick. Has fresh 10.6.8 installed. $200 shipped. Might have a keyboard and mouse I can throw in for the cost to ship em. Will have to dig around an see.

There is supposed to be a hack to install lion and mavericks on the old macs, but you have to make an installer on a usb drive and replace some of the files on the installer so the newer os will run on the 32 bit processors.

Also have a couple of mini stack external drive cases that the drives have died in. The cases are the same size as and look like the mac mini.

Was going to put it on ebay, but just haven't gotten around to it. The local independent mac store wouldn't give me anything for it because they want to sell the newer ones that don't have a power brick and run the newest os. The main drawback to the older mac is Apple is no longer providing security updates.

Morning folks.

I get the AC tweaked on the 911 last night. I recharged it back in the spring on a 60 degree day. It was working OK but not the kick ass AC I remembered. Yesterday was 95 degrees so I whipped on the gauges and got the pressures set correctly. Now after a short drive the suction line into the compressor is cold enough to get covered in condensation. That makes me happy. It was blowing 38 degree air from the center vent with the blower on high after a short drive.

Since I will be driving through Death Valley in the afternoon next week I want the AC working at its best.
