So...if the plural of Foot is Feet, why isn't the plural of Boot, Beet?
Goose, Geese...Moose, Meese? Mouse, Mice...House, Neighborhood?

If you want a faster car, the most economical solution is to go buy one.

Joe, There is a local guy here that does cages for the late model and modifieds so I should be able to get a bar on easy enough. Just a matter of timing to get in.
Rick, the rules say no primered cars. In my case they would probably make an exception since other full body primer cars have been out there and I think it is a rule to avoid the beat up cars. I was thinking I might do a wrap. Thanks for the welcome. A couple stories about myself. We were out with friends at a Denny's for a late night snack and the host had a crush on one of the guys in our group that was 6'6" and 350# (dating a girl that is 5'2" and is married to her now). Well he goes to pay and I an standing behind him and notice the host looking at him and when the host goes to put the money in the till I made this loud kissing noise. The host looked up with a great big smile and my friend turns to look at me with the most horrified look on his face. We nearly passed out laughing. I also used to have this 1978 Dodge Ramcharger with the big brush guard on the front and a few "inspection holes". Not one of those wimpy things, this was some heavy metal bolted to the frame. I was traveling on a two lane highway surrounded by woods when a really nice buck popped out in front of me and I had no time to hit the brakes. It bounced off the guard and spun down the passenger side. I had those mirrors that folded in easy since we used to go off-roading in tight spaces and the deer folded that in on the way by and hit the passenger door. I told my parents and they didn't believe me so I took them out and showed them: "See where the chrome is shined up and the big butt print on the door?". Dad just laughed. It is pretty bad when the only clean parts are where the deer hit.

No doubt Sid.
But the fun factor can get silly expensive. A new Singer is the epitome of that. it is cool, and fast and just stupid expensive. For that sort of money I can buy a 991 Turbo S & take a vacation around the world and stay in 4 star hotels the entire trip.

With being a scientist and an engineer, it's all about the hobby to me. Ever since I was 4, I have been restoring old cars and hot rods with my dad in the garage. It's our hobby together.

I got lucky with the Cobra, my cousin had a factory sponsorship for his race car so I got heads, a cam and an intake manifold for $100 sans valvetrain. The intake was a hybrid they had machined at the Beaver Dam facility. It was interesting but not all that good on the street. I paid $300 for a seasoned block as well. I think the Barry Grant carb was the most expensive new part but I did pay Dean Martinson to set up the heads and he said they were good up to 8400rpm but the rods would let loose around 7000. He is a local guy and has built motors for Bonneville. One car actually made it into the record books.
Overall I ended up with a 2400# car with 406hp/435tq for under $20k. Of course I have another block on the stand ready for a stroker crank and forged pistons so I can get up to 485/525 on the dyno. The 911 will have to wait until I get it up to Road America or Blackhawk Farms. Road America has some seriously long straights and I can see 155hp struggling there. for the street I bet it is fine since it is about the same power/weight as a Miata. I am up to January 2014so I am catching up! Oh Rick isn't weird, he has guns.

The 911 engine was not near as bad since there was no major deadline. I sure hope I am done with oil leaks. I took the Elky through a local touchless car wash right after lunch. The car wash has a undercarriage wash. It really does pretty good at blasting the oil and grime off of the bottom of the chassis and the drivetrain. I will hit the other dirty parts of the engine tonight.

I try to not use those but it is tough to beat the under carriage wash part so every so often I will get the underside flushed. The kids like to help at home so it only takes a little longer than if I did it by myself.

I almost always wash my cars by hand at home. I wish they had an option to just wash the bottom but I am stuck in there until it finishes.
I will have to wash and wax it ASAP to get some wax back on it. Not many options when it comes to a undercarriage wash. I can't do that at home.
