Jeff, we gave it our best effort, but unfortunately, Wanaka is still standing. Queenstown may be another story...

Not as many as you, but could be more as we have some family that is likely to show up without saying much.

Travelled all of 35min today and parked our arses at the pub. Sitting back on our private balcony watching the sunset and the other side of the bay (where we were last night).

It's a hard life but somebody has to do it

Thanks for toughing it out, Jeff.

Happy Thanksgiving to all back in the States. Here in NZ, the turkeys are all doing a happy dance, knowing they aren't in the USA!

Happy Thankgiving!

Turkey is in the oven. Found the neck but no package of giblets. Yes,I checked thrice and with a flashlight.

Popping a ham into the slowcooker as backup.

Beautiful weather here for turkey day. There are many grain silos in town for the wheat. The silos are all full, and they have huge tents to store extra wheat. It was a good harvest last year.

It's nice here in Queenstown, but we should see rain later today. Happy Thanksgiving!

Stijn!!

Well crap.

On the trip home the Elky let us down. Just shy of 349,000 miles. The frustrating intermittent problem. I went over the Cimarron river and there is a bump on the transition from road to bridge. I noticed the engine kinda stumbled but continued. A few miles further it quit again. I pulled over and looked at the engine, like there would maybe a big wire that was right on top to fix. No such luck. It was noisy next to the interstate and the sun was setting.
I called for the free towing I carry on my insurance. One hour later the two truck arrived. I drove it on the tow truck
And he hauled us home. I pulled it in the garage but it did die on me once. I don't yet know if it is the pump, filter or some sensor. Interment problems are the worst to fix. I guess I know what I will be doing tomorrow.
We are home safe and all is well, except the Elky reliability.
I will check the grounds first.

I can't blame ya. Stupid cell phone button pusher spelling errors.
And a three truck would be overkill anyway.
The driver said he had no kids and he volunteered to be the guy on call so the other drivers could be home with family. I was his first and only call of the day.

How long did you have to wait after you cancelled the turbo taxi service?

Happy turkey day 'merica

In Pukekhoe tonight. Other than the odd spot of sight seeing lookouts, loos and waterfalls, spent most of the day in the car (included a 3hr traffic jam through Auckland).

20 minutes or so.

Good Black Friday. I am sure all of you guys got up at dawn or before to go shopping. Well maybe not.

I can't imagine fighting the crowds like that. The strange I have yet to meet a friend that does that. It is a lot of strangers and strange people I guess.

It would have been interesting to find out what Mrs Carrera's impression of Bob was.

Was sent home from Turkey dinner yesterday with stuffing, smashed taters, and gravy. Should go pretty good with the smoked turkey i haven't gotten around all of yet.

Bob was telling me how he didn't have much to eat for the rest of the month except for beans and rice. So,went thru my cabinets this morning and gave Bob all the cans and boxes of stuff that's been in there for years. There were 3 cans of pumpkin pie filling, and some cake, pudding, and jello mixes he was excited about. Ended up filling 2 grocery sacks with stuff I would never have fixed for myself. Most of it was stuff I didn't like that I fixed for Mom and some of it like the cake, and jello mixes stuff from when Mom cooked. Probably send him home with whatever is left of the 8 lb. turkey breast I smoked.

Well I think the Elky is cured. I checked the ground in the rear that is the ground for the tail lights and the fuel pump. The tail lights of course are part of the turn signals. I pulled the screw that holds the grounds in place an cleaned it and all the connectors up. I took it for a drive and all is well. That ground was not lose or looking bad at all but I know some grounds get goofy with just a little bit of resistance. I hope that is all it was.

Well after two test drives in the Elky it seems to be cured.
