Hahahaha!
Good luck with the Hobbitses, Jeff. We're off to Milford Sound & Te Anau to get wet and freeze our butts off. No global warming in the Southern Hemisphere.

We the wife an I had an interesting morning. She has been slobbering over Macans. We test drove several. They are neat cars. We have a black base model in our driveway now. It had 8 miles when we got the keys. It is just a loaner for the weekend. If and when she orders one it will be white.

Nice!!! Black is pretty as long as someone else it keeping it clean! My nephew always gets silver cars because they stay looking clean the longest.
A HVAC knob on Bob's Oddessy broke. It's the one that controls the rear heat/air and as stuck on Mac A/C. Went and got a new knob at Honda dealership 3 miles from house. We with him and asked a group of salesmans standing around if anyone wanted to buy a CayenneS. The almost all in unison said it was too expensive. Sad it was a 2004 and $10K. The said well it's too expensive to repair. I said maybe, but none of my heater control knobs have broken off costing me $14 for a new one. Bob's rear brakes are making a horrible scraping noise. Both me and my brother Tom told him he needs to have someone look at it. He just says he can't hear it and it is supposed to make noise when it needs service. We both told him it is past that and is now making the noise that says it is tearing stuff up and will be even more expensive it you don't get it fixed. He just said oh well. No wonder he only has a car for a year or two then then are junk.

Hmmm. Seems to me that the scraping noise IS telling him it needs service.. but that's none of my business.
We have 2 silver vehicles now and it's great. Wifey took the FIL to another doctor visit today but they took his new Traverse. She left the Malibu at their house but apparently drove through every mud puddle on the way. Their driveway is dirt with a huge puddle right in the drive tracks, too. I always drive around it. Not her. I took the car up to the DIY spray wash, wiped it down when I got back and it looks like new again. Glad I waxed it the day she brought it home.

Stijn!!
Both of my cars are white with a burgundy interior. Mrs Carrera's current car the 2008 Infinity G35x with just over 34,000 miles is also white but she is radical and has a grey interior. The Mcans all have black or a real dark grey almost black. Unless you get the upgraded interior that is stupid expensive. The seats are heated and cooled so a black interior is ok. It is leather. She will get one with the premium plus package. And Apple connect.

G'day all.
Hobbit hunting was fun - didn't find any though. Enjoyed a nice lunch with an ale at the Green Dragon Inn. Stopped early today in Rotorua, and looking forward to a thermal spa this arvo at the hotel. Hoping tomorrow's weather will be warmer for some outdoorsy activities.

Radiator for the Mercedes was supposed to be here Wednesday, UPS screwed up and it won't be delivered until Monday. Alternator on the Rover quit Thursday night, ordered a reman on amazon with Saturday delivery and it arrived with the plastic rear cover shattered and the one of the connections sheared off....wont have another until tuesday.....and there were no rental cars to be had in town by the time the alternator showed up...

Okay, looking closer at the 20 in wheels put on the Cayenne S from the Turbo there is some curb rash on the very edges that was gone over with some silver paint. Should I get the wheels refinished, $400 or note the curb rash and take $400 off my asking price. Or note it with some pictures and keep the price the same allowing them to take the $400 off so they feel like they got a better deal?

Really like both the 2004 S and the 2005 Turbo.
Can't imagine Mrs Carrera not liking the Macan enough to get one if she is going to the trouble to test drive it for the weekend. Just did the configurator and there are interior color options other than black or dark grey.

When I went to the garage to get in my Elky the new car smell in the garage was strong. Mrs. Carrera parked her car outside to put the Macan in the garage to look at the seats, and explore the car some.
The dealer charges $240 for an oil change. Wow. I guess I will be doing those oil changes. Her Infinity is something about $40 for an oil change at the very same dealership. It is so cheap we we let them do it they wash the car as well. By the time I buy the oil and the filter I am close to $40 so they have a great price for it. Not so much for the Macan. I asked my friend that works there how hard is it to do and he said there is a panel with about a dozen screws to be removed and then wiggle the panel out. After that it is super easy. The salesman noticed my 30 year old Elky and asked it we trade cars often. He was having a hard time understanding that I have only bought three cars in 42 years and that I still own two of them. I still will not count this as "my" car since it is going to be my wife's car. My name is on the title of her Infinity, but I don't think of it as my car.

Ok, I'm leaving this here for simple historical data.
I am planning to make space-saver spares into up-sized, deep dish wheels for my 911. Phheww, that felt better! It's becoming a trend and I don't want to seem like a poser when I finally have the car on the road 2 years from now! Also, my Mother in Law has a '16 Cayenne S, that was able to rack up 6k miles before the engine failed...that was a $44k warranty bill!!

Wow, 44K for an engine is kinda pricey. After just 6K miles it darn sure should be a warranty replacement. I could build one monster 911 engine for that much.
One of the local guys has the oldest 356 sold new in the USA. He has another 356 that he uses the bright orange space saver rims from a Macan as the wheels for his street 356. It is cool that after all those years the bolt pattern is the same 5 bolt pattern. If it works, why change it. He liked the look of those wheels and they were fairly cheap from junk yards.
