I guess I may go help fly a project. It is right in the city and is a quick and easy one square mile flight. I have not been up in our airplane since my first week here. Should be fun.

We cheated death again.

You should see our airplane. It is a old work truck. Nothing pretty or new at all. It is a 1965 Cessna 206 that the company bought in 1969 from the first owner. It was purchased by the state of Oklahoma new and the pilot that flew it away from Cessna worked here at the time.

It ain't pretty at all. It just came out of the annual and every item is checked and found to be fine. The pilot who drives it in the most was involved in the annual and personally makes sure it is 100% safe.

As long as you do the upkeep you aren't cheating too much.

Do I get the prize for shortest driveshaft?

Fridge is good to go. Was worrying that I would find a bunch of warm stinky food on of these days. My 25 year old Kitchenaid was making rattling noises while running and when the compressor started or stopped it sometimes sounded like it farted. A little readjustment on the air circulation fan and tightening down the compressor mounts and it sounds like new. The guy says if the fart noises come back to let him know and he will bring out some new rubber grommets for the compressor mounts.

Yipee, don't have to spend money on a new fridge yet.

Do they make new grommets for people? Notice as I get older I make farting noises when I wake up and go to sleep as well.

I've got 32 half gallon milk containers full of water in the fridge and freezer. Think I've reduced my refrigerator to the capacity of a dorm room or hotel mini fridge. Going to set up the power usage contraption and put it in the plugin to see how much watts it eats with all the space filled. Then take em all out and see how much it uses almost empty. I'm so easily entertained. My brother, the engineer tells me it won't make any difference because it doesn't take much to change the air temp.

Good Morning

Hypothetical...
If someone shoots at a ground hog and misses scaring it back into it's hole on ground hog day, does that still mean six more weeks of winter, or does it just put that person into some kind of Caddy Shack like relationship with the ground hog?

Happy Saturday!

Our fridge is probably less than 10 years old and the fan will make a grinding noise at times. I remove the fan cover and adjust it to make it quiet again. I believe it gets out of place when somebody puts an item back and pushes on the cover itself.

Morning all.

Richard no matter what the groundhog does it is 6 more weeks until spring. Math stays the same.

Gotta find a project in the garage this weekend. I don't know what as yet but I will find something.

I know when spring equinox is. I understand the groundhog thing refers to weather trends and not the axis of the Earth's rotation relative to Sol.

At our old house we had an Apricot tree. My Dad planted it when I was very young. The 27 years that tree bloomed there was only 1 year that it didn't freeze hard after it had already bloomed. It was obviously in the wrong climate zone. It was however, a great indicator of the last freeze of the season. No matter how warm or nice the weather got, all but that one year it froze one last time after the Apricot tree was in full bloom. So if it was freezing and the Apricot tree was in bloom, it was the last freeze of the season. 26 out of 27 years. Sadly since we did not have more than one Apricot tree, the one year it didn't freeze, we still didn't get any Apricots.

The charging hole one my iPhone6 died today. Went to genius bar. Said was unrepairable, offered to replace the iPhone6 with another for $300. Ouch, that's what Verizon business offered to sell me a 128G 7 Plus if company would let me sign a contract before I transferred ownership. Went to Verizon Store and signed a contract to get a 7 plus. The old 6 is now a fancy brick. Should have traded it before the plug quit working, it was worth $140.

It nice being able to read the 7 plus better.

Fired up the 4th Generation AppleTV. Setup DirectTVNow and messed with it a bit. The only thing that cable has that it doesn't is easily accessible Descriptions of the programs. The thing DirectTVNow has it that for most networks if you like a show that is a series you can go back to the first episode and watch the entire series. And if you missed when something was aired you can go stream it.

What a fiasco! Was watching the serials I keep up with on the Mac Mini. At the end of the first one i punched the menu button to go to another and POOF!! The menu button woke up the new AppleTV AND changed the source on the TV to the AppleTV input. THEN all of the buttons on the remote i had been using with the Mac Mini now operates BOTH the Mac Mini and the New AppleTV at the same time.

Not big deal right. Figure I just go to the AppleTV settings and unpair the remote I'm using for the Mac mini. Well...No Dice, there is no more menu option to manage the IR remotes on the 4th Gen AppleTV. It only lets you manage the new IR/Bluetooth Siri Remotes. ARRGH!

Googled around and finally found all the different remotes have remote based pairing keys. You can pair, unpair, and reset the remote code by pressing the menu button and either right, left or the center button respectively. But guess what, unpairing has no zero effect on the New AppleTV. The IR remote still operates the AppleTV. ARRGH!!!

So the first challenge was getting the AppleTV to ignore the IR remote for the Mac Mini. Finally found to give the pairing command from the remote to the AppleTV. It is supposed to show an icon in the corner of the screen when paired, but it never did. Then you cover the AppleTV so it can't see the IR signal and use the Menu and Center or Select button and the same time for 10 seconds resetting the remotes codes. Then you have to uncover the AppleTV and see if it still responds to the IR remote. Had to reset the codes several times for it to stop responding.

The next thing is to get the remote working with the Mac mini with the new codes. You start by covering the AppleTV again so it won't pair while trying to pair with the Mac mini. Since the Mac mini will no longer see the remote with the new codes you have to go to the Security settings under the System Settings force it to unpair with the old remote/codes. Then use the Menu and Right buttons to pair the remote with the new codes. Thankfully it flashes a linked graphic to let you know it has paired. Then uncover the AppleTV and test again to make sure the remote works the Mac Mini and NOT the AppleTV. If it still works both you have to start over and try again.

Oh and during all that the AppleTV unpaired itself with its IR/Bluetooth remote so I had to re-pair it to the AppleTV to get it to work again.

What a geek filled day...

And I haven't even tried to watch either Cox Cable or DirectTVNow on my iPhone. Both have Apps for that and now I have memory to install them. Would be convenient at times when watching something live and have to go to the other room for longer than just a commercial break. Like taking care of a computer issue while on Nightwatch.

Morning all. We had to go to the grocery store to get steaks for my MIL. She is coming over this afternoon to be her a couple of days. She requested a steak dinner for her birthday. So I will be forced to eat steak tomorrow.

Where is everyone?

I never got into the garage. My wife "let" me help her trim more Crepe Mertyl bushes. Then I really wanted some fun so I started on taxes. Party time fun.
