I think I conform better than everyone ;) I have a 97 A4 Quattro with 253K on the clock that I use to tow my boat, my Porsche, and anything else that needs towing. My wife has a 97 Subaru Legacy with 186K on the clock

Hmmm,
Ok, I think I might be in the lead. I have 1 914 Eagle GT, 3 old 911s, and 2 Subaru Foresters. The Subarus work for me and the Porsches: I work for them. Marlin |
I replied earlier in this thread, but have new reason to reply. I don't think anyone here wants to compete with me for the "lead". Here's my 16th Subaru:

No Subaru but one of many Audi owners.

Hey PabloX,
I've actually had the car for a few months and have 2500mi on it. The delivery photo was just the only one I had saved on this computer. I drive it most days and get to play on country roads on my way to work. I just haven't managed to get it on track yet. I love the car. As most everyone is saying it needs a little more power. While Subaru has clearly stated that the soon to be released STi variant will remain NA and not see a turbo, I am crossing my fingers that what they do is bump the displacement up to 2.5l and give it another 20-30ft/lb of torque. That's all that it really needs. Well that, and a proper rear end. I'm expecting the car to change quite a bit once we finish our LSD and get it installed. A TBD just isn't a good match for the chassis. Otherwise, it's a great chassis. It's light and nimble. It goes where you tell it to go and it can carry quite a bit of speed through the corners, even on the junk "Prius" spec Michelins they deliver it on. I'm not going to track it until I get some proper rubber on it. Then, once HPR starts offering Winter lapping rates, I'll be a Friday half day regular out at our local track. Regards, Matt |

My wife's 2004 Impreza has only 166,000 miles on it and it's burning oil as if there were no tomorrow. Does all that piston slap (from new, although inaudible to the dealer until the warranty expired) have something to do with this?
|
:) Yes I have a 77 911sTarga (project) and a 07 WRX.(not stock) both are fun, one is way fast, the other is fun.

As a guy who worked at a gas station with repair facilities in the early 80's in a red neck area - I have heard enough slant 6's come into the shop with water in the distributor cap that I can hear them from 500 ft away
Subi's make a sound that reminds me of that exact problem and I cannot get past it in my head - will never own one due to that sound |

My wife had a Subaru before we were married. They seem like ok cars, but there is nothing they offer that appeals to me. If I wanted a small sedan I would be more inclined to buy something from VW, like a Golf R; if I needed a wagon, a Jetta TDI.

I am with M5guy - i'll take a VW
