Hotel Noise: Knock, Applaud, or...

I'm in Melbourne. Walking out of my room to the elevator tonight I hear the unmistakable, and quite loud sounds of In flagrante delicto. Pretty sure it was the real thing and not pron on the tube. Apparently the young lady was nearing the finish line and was quite appreciative of her situation.

Made me think of what I should do - knock loudly on the door and run away. Wait, then at the right time, Applaud. Or just post it on Pelican. Since I don't have the cohones to face down a large Auzzie Bloke being interrupted by a Yank, my choice is obvious.

What would you do?

It depends.

In college on Spring Break? Option #2 without a doubt.

As an adult? Option #3.

Not quite on this level but.....

Back when I was in college, everyone had cordless phones (cell phones were still too expensive for college students). One of my friends had a RF scanner. We figured out that we could sometimes pick up phone calls on the RF scanner (though not reliably from the same phone, as they changed their frequency for each call). The same guy figured out how to plug the RF scanner into his stereo so that the whole floor could listen to juicy phone calls.

One day, he snagged the frequency my roommate was on with his girlfriend and blasted it. My roommate kept saying: "Does the phone sound echo-ey to you?" and then resumed his dirty talk...

Whatever it is, I'm guessing it is better than a San Francisco surprise.

Depends on how much I've paid for the room. Anything over $400= call front desk. Anything under $120= expect nothing less.

I can count on one finger the number of times I have stayed in a room that cost more than 120...

Close for me as well. I can count on one finger the number of times I have paid for a room that cost more than $120 a night.

I have stayed in rooms costing more than $120 dozens of times, but work has always paid for them.

I think it would be 116 or 611

I like standing outside the door screaming "THERE IS NO TOMORROW! THERE IS NO TOMORROW!" at the top of my lungs.

BTDT once or twice.

You guys have NO imagination!

I would send a bottle of bubbly for the happy couple!

Sidney,

You need to get around a bit. You will not get a hotel room in Moscow or Tokyo that is worth a damm for under $1000 a night most of the time.
