How many were made?

We all know that there were 1750 1972 911S coupes made

We all know slightly less 1973 RS coupes.

Ford finally released the number of S-197 Bullitt Mustangs made

2008 and 2009 Model years:
6,582 total
4975 in Dark Highland green
1607 Black

Kind of like the '72 and '73 S cars, minor differences between the years, but mechanically similar.

Ahhh, but it's the 2009's that are rare...
629 were sprayed Dark Highland Green (mine, #6380, is one of these)
181 were Black.

Dark highland green is an exclusive Bullitt color...if you see an S-197 Mustang in Dark Highland Green, it's likely a Bullitt.

I'm not going to live long enough for mine to become a collectable...it's a driver.

as a past owner of (1) of the pasco built 1970 ford boss 302 trans-am cars that i would give both my huevos for, if i could have it back today...............i have just about always liked the mustangs.

well a few years were nothing to gloat over, but the new ones do have that "look" and they do have the pony power to back up the braggado in anyone whose wallet is fat enough.

i liked trans am road racing when i was 16 and still when im 53!

Yeah well, I used to have an even rarer mustang in high school:
1978, 302 2bbl, 140 hp, mustang II mach 1, silver over black, black interior, 3 speed auto, black smoked T tops, they don't make em like that anymore. For good reason. What a POS.

I really like Bullitt Mustangs. Especially sans wing.

In fact, I priced out a new 5.0 with the wing delete. So, so tempting.

I sold that car in 1980 and bought my very first Porsche, a stock 71 914.
With about 80 hp.
And it was faster than the mustang.

I'll bet it wasn't. You were getting that sensation being so low to the ground with your knuckles dragging.

that damn thing should have KILLED me umpteen times and did allow me to LOOSE MY LICENSE as it was a bad evil haul ass no good for nuthing GO FAST!

name the ticket i got one. chirping tires, drag racing, exhibition of speed, speeding cheese and rice its a wonder they still let me drive today!

man am i glad all those judges are now DEAD from old age. they would still recognize my name and the stunts and if i got a parking ticket they would have thrown me in the slammer! small towns suck that way.

my dad sold it to a guy after i spun the crank into a pretzel one night. its still out there somewhere if the guy didnt wreck it and kill himself.

The 70's were very unkind to USA cars...without a doubt. Smog laws favored large displacement with low compression & air pumps.

Sammy...go drive a new 5.0 Mustang...or, wait a spell...in 2012, the "Boss 302" is going to return...450 horsepower or so, suspension really tied down, and the "Laguna Seca" version will be even more race ready. Problem is, I don't like the paint scheme...

Yes, right special edition Mustangs are just like '72/73 911Ss. Isn't there a Mustang forum somewhere for this cr@p?

Techie...you didn't read me...I have posted that the special edition Bullitt Mustang is BETTER than a '72-'73 911S...Faster, better fuel economy, more comfortable, the list goes on. Not a doubt in my mind which one I'd rather be driving on a 500 mile run.

Much better for me these days than the old 911S was...

I have the experience and seat time to make a real world comparison between the two. Can you say the same?

Of couse, there is a Mustang forum for this. Where do you think I got the numbers? But this is off topic, you know.
