Personally, if it were me, I would shave and get a hair cut with a part on one side. To be honest, if you interviewed with me, you would have a difficult time. There is so little to discriminate between applicants...that a more conservative look goes a long way. Even a tatoo can cost you a position when it is very competitive.

Good luck.

Sid, you are most of the way there to the perfect look... you have the same shaped head and you might have a freckle or two.

Grease the hair a bit, part it right down the middle, make yourself an antenna, clip on a bowtie, and lay on the suspenders.

If there are any women on the approval board, you're in.

Facial hair only works on Chuck Norris, Santa Claus and Jesus. It kinda' works for Ben Bernanke.

On anyone else it's a no-go.

I can't stand the Chuck Norris 'stash. I think it's the gap between his nose and upper lip.

When the competition is tight for a position like that, Conservative is the way to go. No one ever said, "we would have picket that applicant if he only had facial hair."

Seriously, though, clean cut for an interview.

IF you had wanted to keep the beard, get a beard trimmer. Trim it on a low setting. You still get the "definition" of the beard, but it is a clean look.

Some people need a beard or they look like kids. While I didn't look like a kid, when I was 23, my beard was very helpful in my profession, since it made me look older, which added "experiece". Most field engineers in that field were younger guys or very old guys.

Since you are applying for a school program, youthful appearence isn't an issue. Get a really good haricut. Take your suit to a tailor and have it refit it to make you look as good as possible. It is cheap money, but money well spent.

You might even consider getting your talons professionally refinshed.

Nonsense. I haven't been to a barber since 1967. You may not need a "stylist" to cut your hair but at least find a chick to cut it. It's money, and time, well spent.

Yea, I prefer the very cute chick that cuts my hair to some old barber. She trims my beard as well!

You say you brush your hair AND go to a barber? Those two statements don't go together.

Just kidding. Grow out the beard or shave it off. Don't go thin beard like hip hop guys or jersey shore.

For the love of all that is holy, get rid of the beard and trim the sideburns neatly. Chicks may dig the look, but you look so much better without the beard. Grow it back in 20 years when you're old, if you want. It will match you then. Right now it makes you look like you're about 12 and pasted whiskers on your face to look like your dad and practice with his razor when he's not there.

As Fint said, part your hair about two thirds of the way. I have similar hair and can tell you from long experience, keeping it trim is key. Parting 1/3 of the way left to right is essential. Do not gel it or slick it into place. Anything in your hair is going to make it look slick and shiny. Just use a tiny amount of Fiber, just enough to hold it into place, and do the part with your hands, not a comb. Take both hands and brush your hair back, smooth it into place wherever the part naturally falls, work a little Fiber into it to keep it in place, and you'll be both a babe magnet and make a super presentation to the nice people at school who hold your very life in their hands and will be judging you (in part) by how you look.

A final point. Schools like people who are authentic. The beard looks affected. They hate affectations. Ditch the beard for the same reasons you wouldn't wear a diamond earring. One that showed, anyway
