I think 20 years' difference is at its least important point - right now. I think it will get more important from here. I'm 48. The difference between my outlook, energy, activity level, stage of life, etc and that of the 68 y/o's I know is very large. (Well, except for that one woman I mentioned.)

She has no kids. For the record, I'm 26 right now and she's 47.

I'm guessing that HHI944 has a hangover this morning.

Good point...I can testify that this is true. I'm 68. Gotta pace my energy level these days. Work hard on house chores one day...but the next day I must rest.

The same with play. Learned this the hard way, tried to keep the hours of my "honorary nephew" during a weekend pool tournament. No longer can I stay up until 4:00 AM, and be back in the tournament room at 8:00 AM for the first matches.

I don't see the problem, you have to answer your head and your heart, if they both want the same thing, then gopher it. Don't worry about what others think, it isn't their relationship, it isn't for them to say what is right and what is wrong, that is for you and the woman in question.
The fact that you asked indicates you have some reservations and only you can answer the questions you have.

A year of love is worth a decade of regrets.

Be stupid, it has it's charms.

Some of you may already know this, but my wife is 21 years older than I am.

We're celebrating our 15th year together in September.

Things couldn't be better.

I think you all missed something. She's married to an older guy. That's why the OP can't have her and that's why she thinks she could possibly by a user if they hook up.

I'd hit it in a flash. But I'm talking as a 26 YO. If the situation were mine, she'd be 87!

Every time you see or think about her, go to the little boys room, punch yerself in the nuts, real hard. As time goes by you will instinctively respond to her presence and runawaaaaaay.
Don't thank me just yet, try it first, then send me cash money for thanks. Whatever you pay me will be peanuts compared to the therapy i've saved you down the line.

No, she's not married. She's kinda burnt on the whole dating scene, as I am as well. She has attracted some real dirt bags and *******s over the years we've both made it known that the other meets and exceeds all of our individual dating requirements except for age.
Trekkor, I'm very happy to find out that this is viable, I'm really not after 'a little fun' with an older woman. If I were, it wouldn't be at all difficult to find on this island.
Trekkor, do you mind if I pm you some questions layer tonight?

If she makes you happy, I say go for it....

I'm sorta in a boat that I know won't last, but I'm happy for the first time in a while. Roll with the punches is my new motto. When it stops being fun, and I stop being happy. I will renegotiate....

Questionable life choices

I'm in the go for it camp. Finding a good person isn't easy. Nothing wrong with trying. If it all goes bad, she is mature enough to not be a B about it

Lots of good advice from the gallery here...on both sides of the argument. But we are the spectators; you're the player here. Only you can make the moves .

I am curious though - did you post here to get help to talk yourself out of this blossoming relationship OR into it? From your posts I don't think you're sure yet...so keep cruising for a while yet with this great friendship you obviously have.

If you have doubts then don't make the leap. If you dispel those doubts in your own mind (and you know she has no doubts either) then frankly nothing else matters. Not age, not race, not religion, not anything. We are here for a good time, not a long one. Opportunities for real love are rare...don't waste your life wondering "what if".

You really should consider a career as a counsellor.

I say go for it, I did. Just keep somewhere way back in a corner of your mind that it won't last. If you are questioning it now that pretty much sums it up. That being said, it doesn't mean that you won't enjoy a few months of happiness.
