No, not at all.

Just curious, though... knowing you had to access the rear/tailgate, why didn't you park "nose in?"

Not trying to be a smart aleck... but when going to Lowe's/HD/Kroger, there have been times when I've seen a pull-through spot like that, but then it hits me; I'm gonna need to get to the trunk.

My thought as well....

No Dave - you are not a DB.

You're a GG (Good Guy) and we like you.

Umm.....you don't drive a POS SUV, I hope.....;)

Agree, Fred not a DB, he's just having some fun with this thread.

As far as why not "nose in"? I never park nose in unless I absolutely have to ( and that's rare ). Especially when in my truck. In that situation, I'd roll forward a few inches for loading. I'm hyper-sensitive to backing into something so I eliminate backing at all costs. Humans aren't built to back up safely. Same applies to when we're behind the wheel.

It was kind of warm here today.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1341972145.jpg

So I was happy to get one of the shaded spots. Luckily, no one tried to squeeze in between us by the time I got back.

He's not a d-bag. He is in less than one spot. It's not going to hurt the grass having his tires on it for a bit.

I know I know........I wasn't being sarcastic or flippant when I said "this is how you do it" and "he deserves a medal".

Too bad ALL Porsche drivers aren't this skilled! ;)

Yeah, yeah, yeah. :p

No SUV, just a Corolla. :D

The beauty of being the mayor of a small town is that you can find a way to easily get around any laws that you don't like.

The mayor of Logansport, IN, Ted Franklin, parked his yellow Corvette Convertible halfway into a no parking zone last Friday outside of the town hall. Reportedly, police let him know the car was parked illegally around noon.

But Franklin was probably attending to important city matters that were more important than moving the car. Hours later, someone else who got a ticket for parking a car in the same space called to complain that there was no ticket. Former Chief of Police AJ Rozzi issued a ticket at 4:15. Interestingly, Mayor Franklin had refused to hire Rozzi's son for a position on the police force.

The mayor said that he didn't know there was an issue until after 4:20, when a friend told him about the ticket.

Franklin paid the $20 fine on Monday, but he'll never get a ticket for it again. Why's that?

Because Franklin now has his own extra large parking spot that's big enough to fit an entire bus full of mayors. It was placed in an area of the building's lot that was previously just for police use and it matches the color of his Corvette. Perhaps he wanted the car to be camouflaged?

He did say that the spot will let him "get in and out of the city building much quicker" and presumably attend to pressing Logansport matters. He did not say that this was his way of sticking it to form

At first I was agreeing with the double space issue (especially in AZ and shady areas, but a lot of these are people parking in outer areas, not between the lines..... big deal?

I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that there's a couple little kids this up coming kindergarten year, that will be panicking about their coloring between the lines skills.

Double spaces in prime spots is a no brainer DB move. Out in Egypt, not so much...

Rick Lee 08-02-2012 02:32 PM

The shaded parking space that prompted me to start this thread no longer exists. Wind recently knocked down the huge tree that shaded those spaces.

Here's one from today at the post office. This d'bag wanted to make sure no one else got any shade.

I was guessing it was spray glue, but I think I see Scotch tape in that closeup.

Spray glue might be a little over-the-top... could possibly damage the paint.

J1NX3D 08-03-2012 03:48 AM

just tape :)

Probably not but most sprinklers only run in the wee wee hours of the morning - this was at approx. Happy Hour.

Still - the car "could have" damaged a sprinkler head - as many of them are located immediately adjacent to hardscape.

I'm cool with what he did - better than taking up 2 spaces and parking crooked which makes you look like a douche - even if you aren't one. :)

Joe Bob 08-03-2012 08:34 PM

Dunno if this was posted before.....but I'm watching the movie now.

At 2:00 is the scene.

Thanks!

For the record, the space to my right is not a space. There is a very large concrete support post for the parking structure, just out of sight. ;)

Plus the fact you are indeed driving a "compact"! ;)

slodave 08-06-2012 04:17 PM

Those spots were not compact, but ultra compact! I don't know where the guys that paint the lines get their measurements. Had I parked normally, my tires would have been on the white lines. :D

How about his guy? Seems he does not have a cell phone and needed to make a call. Instead of parking in the lot and walking to the phone, he parked n the sidewalk. Hey, it was 106* outside.
