Other than the Winter of '83, I cannot remember a time in CA with so many good swells this close together. I'm too out of shape to charge it, but have seen some incredible waves at local beaches. I think folks are getting spoiled and someone said Peter Mel is depressed cuz he's done it all with his tube ride at Mavericks. And when you thought you had seen it all;

I can see the bluffs above Mavericks from my office. On that day I noticed about 20 people standing on the bluff top. I thought about taking the 15-minute walk out there to check it out, but was pretty busy at work, so I stayed in the office. I've gone out plenty of times only to be disappointed by the puny 20-foot waves. Mistake! I don't think I would have gone bankrupt and lost my house and family if I'd taken a couple hours off. Lesson learned.

Photo was taken on Jan. 20th, Charlie, if that helps any.

FWIW, I live 2 1/2 blocks from the ocean here and there are days I don't even walk those 2 1/2 blocks to check the waves before heading out to work. I hang my head in shame......:(
