Nothing 20 foot (three feet) for me today, but I did get out. There was a bunch of high school girls surfing near by. The shrieks and laughter was quite refreshing.

Mel's best ride of his life was on Jan 8th. When I got home from work that day my wife told me the local internet (Next Door) was all abuzz about Peter Mel's ride. I knew then I should have left the office. Doh!

Tell ya - I'm amazed at how many females are surfing now as compared to when I started out. I think it's fantastic!


I think the date may have been the 10th, not the 20th on the photo I posted.

Yeah, it is fantastic. Around here the girls used to watch Blue Crush then go out and buy a brand new surfboard and wetsuit, use it once, then put it back on the second hand market the next weekend.

Now that the soft top surfboards have come out. A bit floatier, less dangerous, and can't help but catch a wave, they are out there. A friend of mine teaches PE at a girl's high school and asked them if they wanted surfing. Ha, he has a team of about 20 or 30 of them out there.
