Years ago, our son's friend Matt had his photo taken @ Pipeline. The image was later reproduced all over the world,
even making it onto one printing of the NZ $5 bill ..

Koa Smith on the best wave of the day at Skeleton bay, getting 8 barrels on 1 wave, traveling over 1.5km in distance and surfing the wave for 2 minutes!

That Skeleton Bay wave looks scary. A huge amount of water in that lip and breaking onto a shallow sand bar. Plus it looks like a long way from a hospital :eek:
