Ad Valorem BS -- Thanks, GA!

Just renewed tags on my three vehicles---each nearly $200 per year just for the renewal sticker. I feel so ripped off. I'm just sayin'.......

When you can't raise taxes, you create fees.

Here in TX, I usually pay $53 or $63 (not sure why it's not always the same) plus another $2 to pay online.

True, but are property taxes 2+ percent of the house's value in Georgia?

In Minnesota, I have clients that pay over a thousand dollars a year for tabs. Even a "normal" car can be $500+

It appears this is like a personal property tax. It is nice if you don't have to pay for taxes on your property but I would expect to have to pay them. It actually makes more sense to me than being hit for an entry fee every time you drive or walk into a state park.

GA has had it for years (25+). SC has property taxes.

Just paid $275 on my wife's car. Mine was $17.

Is the cost based on the value of the car? If so I would say go buy some old junk but they already crushed all the good old cars. So I guess they got us all by the scrotum.

1% tax on residential and 3% tax on agricultural land in Indiana. They keep trying to say my classified (read as tax free) forest is agricultural and that the hills (30% slope in areas) are readily tillable. If the tax guys ever win those battles my taxes will almost triple.

Taxes on the property in Texas are rather cheap. At our old home (MUCH nicer than the one in Indiana) and 1/2 the property my taxes were much less per acre and home.

Fewer issues there as well... That is unfair as I am just mad right now...

My 911 was $27.00 this year. It's based on the states perceived value of the car. You must drive new cars.

Well, then it comes down to your county and zip code. As stated, my 84 911 AD Valorem was $57.00

( typo from above, not $27.00)
