Too bad that's there is no way in hell that he can run it legally in CA. One CHP that knows WTF will have that puppy impounded in a second. Running it up on Angeles Crest Hwy was a real risk.

He does run it. Seen him on Mulholland for the past couple years. Runs race gas from the smell of it.

From what the Rock Store Photos guy says, even a high-res picture of a car in the wrong lane and with a clear shot of the license plate is not enough if the cop did not witness it. So They would have to proove the speed and who was driving and that it was not a closed course, etc.

I think this car was featured in European Car Magazine a while back...totally mental machine!

Now the owner's comment that no bike can accelerate out of a corner harder than the car is a stretch. Plenty of bikes that will have a better power to weight ratio than this car...Desmosedici anyone?

Yeah, but desmosedici tires are apparently an odd size and the other sizes have better compounds available. And the bike has a short wheelbase so it will wheelie. There is more to acceleration than power to weight ratio.

My first thought was how does he smog that beast? I sure wouldn't have filmed it with CA issued plates on it. There are several counties and zip codes in CA that don't require bi annual SMOG checks. I need to establish a PO box there for my cars.

So this guy runs Mulholland alot. Seen him up there a few times. I have no clue how he keeps the car from getting impounded.

As for smog goes- it's incredibly easy to get the 2ZZ to pass a sniffer test even with a supercharger/turbo (although both... there gotta be some work there with that) as long a a working cat is installed and the tune is meant for it.

It's pretty easy to slip a modified Lotus thru smog here- you cannot see the exhaust system from under the car because the entire underside is closed out with a diffuser.. and looking under the hood isn't something a lot of shops even do.

I wonder why they don't take it to the track. Put it on Laguna Seca and give us a true measure of just how fast it is.

Apples to Apples on a track. Can it really beat a motorcycle?

No doubt it is crazy fast, but show me the timing slips.

No doubt is is a cool toy. A fast cool toy.

I wonder how much he spent to get the car to that point.

I do wonder too!
It would be nice to see a sketch of actual stuff done and how it was done.
Cost and so on

In 2007, he took it to Willow Springs and it ran 1:27 on street tires. that was the fastest lotus at the track...by 3 seconds. the car, at that time had around 320hp. the car has almost doubled in HP.

The track record at Willow is 1:19 on a motorcycle. With double the hp in the car, do you think he could shave 9 seconds off his time?

What kind of bike? With all that downforce, hp, and some racy rubber I think that the Lotus could turn a time like that. At least with a good driver.
