This is a much better thread than a picture of someone's dinner.

No...they're parked in the lot...cobblestone brick area is the actual street.

are you in the Quarter? or Treme? (which might be more exciting)
Conti goes all the way up to Mid-city, but IIRC it ain't one way all the way feel free to use that phrase "it ain't one way all the way" if it help your story ![]() |

In the quarter where Conti and Rampart intersect. Here's a wider shot from farther back in the parking lot. That traffic light visible is for the Rampart traffic heading eastbound (Ithink). For the record, Conti is one way in the Quarter...as I now know.

To give you a bit of perspective the cars on the left you see in the pictures of the parking lot are parked in a single row right up to the sidewalk of Rampart Street. The plan was to exit the lot by turning left, travel approximately 20 feet to Rampart, turn right onto to Rampart St. and traverse two short blocks to turn right to the street the apartment was on.
All was going well and I made the turn. I oddly remember NOT seeing any traffic signals facing me at the intersection. Traffic was clear and I negotiated onto Rampart while balancing the remnants of my "stroller" with no problems (or so it appeared to me.). Suddenly there were bright blue flashing lights in my rearview mirror...a common sight in NOLA this time of night....errrr...morning. Probably answering a burglary call or a mad dash to Shipley's donut shop. They obviously were not after me...I mean I was only going what? Maybe 7 mph ? Totally inconspicuous no doubt. I'm in a BMW 5 series station wagon fer chrissakes. But in an abundance of caution, I move further to the right side of my lane to give the LEO's safe passage to pursue their call. Why the heck do they just not come around me? I move even futher to the right to where I'm almost on the sidewalk. Still they don't come aound. I make it the first block while now paying ever close attention to the officers in my rearview mirror and slow to 4 mph. And yes I said "officers" because I now either have double vision or there are now two gendarmes in low speed pursuit. I look up at the intersection and realize the traffic signal was glaring red. Unfortunately I was in the middle of the intersection when I noticed this arguably material fact. "Uhhh...jim. I think they want YOU to pull over" says the heiress. Drunken pedestrians are yelling the same thing at me. Maybe I better stop. And now the adventure REALLY begins.

Let me point out the obvious. You were being an engineer. Everything was fine. There was no need to jigger with anything. Nope, all fine. Leave it alone. Stay with the heiress. focus on the heiress. Ignore the new parking spot.
But you can't leave it alone...

Thx - I have a fix on the spot (since I have a mental map of NoLa fixated in my brain - permanently etched there...)
it is obvious that the glare of their lights prevented you from seeing the red light! Middendorf's is in Manshac - don't tell me you are phone posting? hard labor for that... |

Somehow that thought completely evaded me. My styrofoam cup was in my right hand. My holstered Glock 21 that fell out of the door pocket seemed to garner more attention from all present at the site of the traffic stop.

From what I recall at the last Mardi Gras I went to (admittedly, it's been a while), everyone was drinking while driving! I recall there were drive through bars. |
