Start looking for car shows in Everett. That's hot rod hell. Awesome cars up there.

If you can pass the 30k mark there is a first generation Z28 that sounds too good to be true. Check CL. There have been a couple of GTO's as well recently but none currently. There is a 64 GTO in Federal Way but it looks to be an auto. It is 22K. I despise autos as well. Keep us posted.

Nice! Sounds like it comes with some goodies to make it a fun driver. Being that it was a base 289, a few mods should really wake up that V8.

Love it! My parents had a 65 mustang 298 4sp when I learned to drive. Pretty fun car. Not a fastback however!

Since you are going to rework the engine, there are real reasons why a turbo makes a lot of sense on a V8. My BIL drag races a 5 liter fox body. It brings the boost on in a nice linear way and if you stay off the gas, it is very streetable.

Just a thought.

Nice, but be wary of the Pinto-like gas filler.

I think there is a aftermarket flexible coupling which reduces the dangers of a rear end collision and subsequent explosion.

Thanks, I'll add that to the ever expanding list.....along with disc brakes to make sure I'm the hittee rather than the hitter.

I found this car locally 3-4 miles away just like my first Porsche. It too was a nice driver. ......

This will probably be up on blocks till April of next year. Gonna spend the winter getting the foundation sorted out....and there is a lot of sorting to do.
Minimal rust, thank God. The front subframe design is downright scary ......

A poor picture but this is my 1966 fastback. Shelby clone (Parked behind my 993) 347 stroker with afr alloy heads, big roller cam etc. close ratio 5 speed and 3.89 geared posi 9 inch . Original disc brake V8 car.(C code) Lowered A arms ,koni shocks stiffer springs ,added torque boxes,frame ties etc etc etc etc and now on 17x8 torque thrust wheels.

Frank Stragrano's CP 65 or 66 cleans up CP at the SCCA Nats.....Maier Racing in Ca.
Not too stock with a bunch of HP & tiars & stuff.

The car was one of Fords first unibody designs and were spot welded together BUT because they made a million of them in the first 18 months production ( instead of the 200,000 they were set up for they were pushing them out too fast to be very precise with the welding.

I have seen original cars with a spring hanger bracket with 5 or 6 welds and only 3 or 4 hit the piece underneath . The same car was missing the factory undercoating in one wheelwell,because the line worker was probably in the can and no one was there to replace him the line just kept moving.
My brother in law worked at a local Ford plant in those days. He still laughs about the car which reached the line end (complete with all quality control stickers on the windshield. It wouldn't start because someone forgot to install the engine. True storey haha
