What's the longest you've been without sleep?

Woke up at 5:30 am Friday. It's 11 PM Saturday. And still counting.

I think you've got me beat. I crewed at a lemons race, but I caught a few short naps in the wee hours of the morning.

Hang in there Pete!!!

It's weird Sid, periods of crystal clarity for extended times, followed by a complete zoning out. Can't remember how to type.

Gonna be a long weekend.

I've gone maybe 28 hours without sleep. I get weird quick. The filter between my brain and mouth is completely gone after 20 hours. I have no ability to concentrate, period.

WTF are you doing?

I once flew from LA to Vancouver, landed in the late morning, shot a TV commercial on location (which was a night shoot) shot for 16 hours and flew back to LA the next night all without getting any sleep. It was fun getting back into the country as I had to explain to the Immigration agent why I looked the way I did. I think it was close to 42 hours bed to bed. Of course I was a lot younger

32 hours coming back from Europe...a cancelled flight coupled with the fact that I cannot sleep on planes meant I was out 30 seconds after my head hit the pillow when I finally got home. Some of the best sleep of my life though!

I think I was up for 92 hours straight at bootcamp. Woke up 4am on a Monday to fly there and didn't sleep until 1130pm Thursday. It's crazy how after a being awake so long you're almost not even tired anymore. You just go into a sort of zombie mode.

48 hours, 35 of which was spent in a chicken rendering plant...it wasn't hell but I wouldn't want to repeat it...

Workwise during startup/test runs, I've been on a jobsites for 3 or 4 days straight with maybe 2 hours naps a day.

On a personal level, during High school/College, we had gaming convention weekends where we'd stay up all weekend. So, up 6AM Friday, go to sleep Sunday night. Maybe 55-60 hours.

Back then, Pepsi had 3 times the caffeine it has now...

Sleep dep is a very effective torture...in 48 to 56 hours you can pretty much get anything you want out of someone without leaving a mark...to keep them up place an ice cube on their front teeth...another very effective tool that doesn't leave a mark...

No sleep.........

Was up for 48 hours following hurricane Camille in Gulfport, MS. Was stationed there in the Seabees and we had tons of emergency cleanup work to do after the storm went thru. Afterwards, crashed on a folding bunk in a warehouse and slept for 8 hours before someone got me up to go back to work. Of course, I was 21 yrs old at the time!

96 hours. Yes, really. I hallucinated a couple of times about mid-way through it and then as was said above, it just became sort of a foggy "zombie" mode where I functioned okay but didn't have much enthusiasm or energy about anything - I just sort of existed and didn't care about anything.

I've gone several days with 15-20 minute cat naps every few hours when I felt tired. That actually worked much better - I forget how many days exactly that went on (+/- two weeks) but I was much more lucid and functional.

Packed it in at 3:00 AM this morning.

We're doing an IP telephony upgrade for a financial services firm in Philly, system goes down at 11 PM, once you start there's no going back. I can shift out my engineers, but there's only one of me.

Figured it was time to take a break when I couldnt figure out how to plug into a router. Stared at it for 10 minutes trying to figure it out before someone asked why I was holding my laptops power cord instead of a console cable.

I think that's around 45 hours. Still not thinking clearly.

Stayed up all night partying with my ex girlfriend in San Fransisco when she was dry docked there working on a cruise ship, then drove straight home 52 hours to Pittsburgh. I remember gassing up in Cleveland, and barely being able to figure out how the gas pump works.

I can get to 24 pretty easy, but the one time I hit 30 I threw up and went to bed. I felt like I was passing out drunk.

About 36 hours straight when I was in high school. Summer job, working in a fiberglass shop making stuff for a military contract. Yes, made the deadline but I'm wondering what those funny tablets were in the salt tablet dispenser. Working with a large crew of bikers.
