I remember using a Hobart machine like that in high school as a cook in a pizza place.

Good times.

Online flea market site MERCARI is super popular here in Japan. My wife is always buying and selling stuff. I was keeping an eye out for a decent electric pressure washer when I saw this Stihl being advertised for the equivalent of $60 (probably over $300 new). Seller said it had some pump issues. I took a risk and offered $50 including shipping.
It arrived and seems to work fine.
Problem is I’m running out of things to wash!

It is a very early one...probably 1920's. Hard to kill them.

Won this on an on-line auction. It's Mueller E-5 and D-4 tools for tapping into water lines under pressure. I gave $130 for the lot. They're going for $500 - $3,000 on eBay, depending on accessories.

I bought this Craftsman 3/4 hp, 8" grinder Friday.

Then, the very next day I found this Thor 1 hp, 10" grinder! I gave $30 for it. It's a beast. Needs a coat of paint and a new wire wheel, but it's all the grinder I'll ever need. (I had to flip the pictures because they kept posting upside down).

And dangerous. Everything has to be right and there's still lots of anxiety until it's over.

Those square craftsman grinders have their own cult following.

About 2 weeks ago picked up a John Deere model 332 garden tractor for $800.00 . Tractor only no accessories but I have a spare mowing deck to put on it . The three cylinder watercooled Yanmar diesel starts instantly and just purrs smoothly . Power steering is smooth as butter . Needs cosmetics but these are very stout little tractors she's going to be my worker tractor , I have a 330 for mowing duties .

There's a 50+ page thread devoted to Craftsman block grinders in the Garage Journal forums. I mean what's the big deal?

It's been a few months, but we bought this 27' pool with pump, filter, cover, steps, robot vacuum, etc for $800. It is two years old. The guy who installed it said it would cost $5-$6000 new.

However they cost $2500 new, and the new ones are not considered to be as robust (motors might not be made in the USA anymore) as the old ones which are virtually bullet proof. This one by SN appears to be early 70's with original paint. Was told it runs guddd. We shall see....have KA 5 QT Bowls, will need Whisk and Dough Hook (I understand KA attachments are interchangeable with Hobart N50 as they were the same co at one time?). I want the metal meat grinding attachment to start making my own sausage...

I will clean it and probably pull it apart to check the gears and repack the grease...note it apparently still has the original "NSF" and "H" decals still on it..that is a good sign.
Mr Hobart deal is a go..paid for it..now waiting for shipping..

The bk court finally oked the auction..now the problem is that to get some of the equipment out of the building a wall might have to be taken down..the land Lord is objecting because he might lose his FDA approval on the building.

Anyway by SN my mixer was made in 1966.
New Hobarts ain't what they used to be cause the motors are made in......China.

Garage sale Saturday....

20 ton press, missing the jack but I have one. I offered $40 she countered with $50. Deal.

Her late husband was a professional photographer. There were dozens of lights, light stands and tripods. The two lights and the power strip she let me have for another $10. Tomorrow morning she said more equipment will be going on sale at 10:00. I'll be back.

Went to look at a rear Targa window for $40. Bought the window, had a nice chat with the owner and as I was leaving he asked if I could use the gasket it for it. So got the window and the gasket for $40.
