Last week was crazy. We heard about a lawn tractor on the next road out for free so went and grabbed it. On the way home we saw a guy cleaning out a house and loading up the dumpster so stopped and asked if we could have a look we collect scrap metal and whatever. So we got a few truck loads from him and he says follow me I have another dumpster. So we go there and get a few things and his father says take this log splitter! Iv been needing one for years. So then he asks us if we want to help him clean out the rest of the basement and tear up the old floor. So 4 hours later Iv got 150$ in my pocket and as we are working he comes down and says heres a watch for ya. Its a 14K white gold Benrus. He is going to call us back when he gets more scrap metal gatherd up. Also got a truck load of old books. Still have to go through them. But going through the other stuff found 14$ worth of silver dimes and another 14$ worth of half dollars and a few silver dollars. Not to mention all the other stuff we got from the dumpster that will probably be for a garage sale. There wasnt alot worthy of ebay but I aint complaining.

Yeah, tell me about it. I had a Velvet Elvis once, but I traded it for a "Dogs Playing Poker" a while back. Still regretting that deal...

No, $150 (well, $156 to be exact).

It's a gen-you-wine signed/numbered CRL (Lassen) Litho. Traced it back to Lassen Galerie, Las Vegas.
Original purchase price was over $9k, so I think I did OK...

Stopped to look at a patio chair someone put by the curb and this was sitting right next to it. I held off on the chair but did grab the knife set. Supposed to be a pair of scissors with it, I think....but all the rest are there and in good condition - even the block itself.

Tabs,
I have the Chef's Choice Model 796 grinder. It works ok as a grinder, but the feed tube is a bit narrow and is a bit of a bother to feed the cubed meat in to it.
Also, don't waste your time with the meat stuffing tubes.... trying to push the mixed sausage down the feed tube is even more of a hassle. Get one of the cylindrical sausage stuffers.

I have one of those old-style weston hand crank grinders as well, and i think one person could probably grind meat on it just as fast as the kitchenaid, just because the feeder opening is wider (just dont stick a finger down in to it while someone else is cranking.)

If you do go the kitchenaid grinder route, consider the Smokehouse Chef unit. It is supposedly all stainless, so you could disassemble and throw it all in the dishwasher. The body and feed tray on the chefs choice are pot metal and aluminum, respectively, so you need to be careful in cleaning it. It is pretty easy to hand wash, at least.

Another curbside freebie......grabbed it tonight as I was running an errand in my truck. It was 1 block from my house. Sucker is in near perfect condition too...nothing broken and legs are nice and tight.

Tables come in handy for me with all the projects I do - especially working with plants - they make a good "potting table" if nothing else.

It's 4.5' in diameter and 2.5' in height:

I hit the repo auctions every week, I focus mainly on industrial equipment. I picked up this Swiss made precision machine for $55. I could move it for a couple grand but plan to use it for production in our Amazon based side business. I sometimes think I could make a real living poaching auctions for this type of thing... Specialized equipment often brings nothing as they have it in front of the wrong audience (not that creditors would know, I get it).

If you have to ask, you can’t afford it.

Ha, thx for posting that. Yes it's a precision "cut to length" machine. Programmable for speed, length, cycles, etc.. The key though is that it ties in with other equipment that performs actions like wire stripping, laser marking and the like.

It's used mainly in the electronics world for cable (copper to fiber-optic) but can be adapted to any application that requires precision actions (pierce, cut, mark, emboss, etc) at specific length.

You probably could make decent scratch doing that, just have to have the time, space, and capital...
My dad cleans up on big sign cranes that way. Finds them rolling through equipment auctions that are marketed to sign guys and buys them cheap...

My Hobart deal might go.bye bye...it was a bk auction where there is a bulk buyer who offered more for the whole than the auction proceeds. The court says they have till the 27th to pay up or the auction stands. Ohhh well.

I'll be bidding on this one next week, might be a touch overkill for your application though
