Posted this in another thread but it might belong here:
I have a couple of oil paintings by Victor Czerkas. I got them from a prop house that didn't want to hassle with getting "clearance" on them to use in film and TV (filming the art hanging on the wall is considered "duplication"). Here's his Bio: "Victor J. Czerkas (1914-2003) Born: Sioux City, Iowa; Studied: Chouinard Art Institute; Member: San Gabriel Art Association. Victor Czerkas grew up in Iowa and there learned the sign-painting trade. In the 1930s he moved to Southern California where he worked as a sign painter and freelance commercial artist. By the 1950s he was employed by Universal Studios as a lettering artist, producing hand-lettered titles for major motion picture releases. In later years he did similar work for ABC Television programs. Throughout his life Czerkas also produced fine art watercolors and oil paintings. He studied art in the 1930s then continued his art education with private painting lessons from Nicolai Fechin. Most of his early paintings depict regional California cityscape and landscape views. These were often produced outdoors on location while viewing the subjects. After 1978 he also produced works depicting subjects he found while traveling in Europe, Russia, India, as well as areas in the Caribbean and Orient." Anyway, I had seen one of his works on Etsy for $850 which wasn't too bad of a price. I hesitated and a few days later I came across another sale site called "Mercari" and the same seller had the piece on there for $450 so I snapped it up. Here's a link to an Ebay auction for one of his pieces: The woman who was selling my piece didn't know what it was and titled it "Bunker Hill" which was a watercolor he did of Los Angeles. Mine is another oil of the "Taos Pueblo". I think I got a good deal. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1633030834.jpg |

I'm sure you know who Olaf Wieghorst is. I purchased a nice book of his artwork and his pieces are well regarded as well on eBay: The title sequence of "El Dorado" features much of his work: <iframe width="999" height="562" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/7QXhGGOFNko" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
Craig, that is beautiful. I have a handful of western art, actually cowboys and Indians. Nothing too well known.

Really scored today. Ramsey winch for my jeep, a 7hp robin diesel engine, a box of lights and belts and filters thrown in $120. for everything. The winch works and the engine runs great http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1633125466.JPG

^^^ Nice score ! That Ramsey winch will out live you . Any plans for the diesel ?

Not really at the moment. The fact that it runs best at one rpm limits its use. Cant really use it on a gokart or minibike so its best for a tractor or something like that. Im sure i will find a use someday. Im most excited about the winch. Iv been wanting a decent unit for my willys since i got it 20 years ago

I'm quite pleased with this score. Cool thing is I can carry (only just) it myself, and my little 2hp Honda outboard will fit on the back.

Or as the big dogs say high-density polyethylene (HDPE). I cleaned all the gunk of it and it's actually quite nice. Nice enough. |

In the mid 70’s, I was about 15, and older kid across the street had a flat fender jeep from the early 50s. I thought it was the coolest thing. Helping him work on it, is where I cut my teeth working on cars. |
Its a 46 cj2a i got when i was 15 in 2001 for $200. it was sitting since the 70s and had a tree growing through it. I fixed it all up and drove it to school a few years . Later rebuilt the engine in it. Its still got the factory drivetrain and axles just have a locker in the rear and saganaw steering conversion. Thats why i couldnt tuck the winch behind the bumper where its supposed to fit. After that its been on and off the road a few times i mainly use it for yard work and getting firewood now. I also have a bantam trailer for it. I have a 67 cj5 thats my road going jeep. I always wanted a proper winch for it glad it finally got one. Lots of good times ill never sell it

what does the 7hp robin diesel engine weight ?
I have seen new motors out of china like that small 1 banger diesel but fear china quality of unknown makers and did not know of a older USA made small 1 banger diesel my plan is a cheap sail boat motor for very occasional use on a 25 ft as we sail 99% of the time |

Not much of any kind of car, just a novelty. They will do some work, though. Not mine, too clean. |
yes 5.38 gears! you can bolt on an overdrive on the back of the t case where the pto output is. Later the cj5s have more ratio options. my 67 with buick v6 has 3.73 so it can do highways if you are brave enough. Iv only done it a few times. Not very safe. But it goes as slow as the willys since the big tires speed it up.
