Got it for $80. The thing is built like a TANK and I doubt the newer boxes compare except maybe the roller bearings. Slides and drawers on this one are still very smooth. I started looking to see what a matching box top in the same era might go for. Seems to be in the $300-$400 range.

Just picked this one up....$50 on local CL......just like the one I already have so they can sit side by side! All drawers work perfectly plus casters plus I have the key.

Interesting side note: this was the seller's fathers. 85 years old and they are downsizing so he can move back up north (PA) to be closer to family. Mine was my late Stepfathers.

We chit chatted for about 1/2 hour. The seller used to be a parts manager for Peterbilt and also owned several Subway Sub shops up north and a couple car lots down here. He was driving a 2014 Ex-Sherwin-Williams F150 with a lift gate he bought at auction for $1,200. It had 142K on the clock and now has 234K. Mine is an '05 with 2335K on the clock.

Couple car guys swapping war stories......:p

OK thanks.....I think that's a good price considering the collector aspect of those. I wonder how old that one is? 70's? Or older?

Baz 09-26-2021 02:45 PM

Got the new tool chest in place. Turns out it is a slightly larger variation of my Stepdad's old one.

I know - I have a lot of re-organizing to do. Waiting for cooler weather and to get my storage unit done in the side yard.

Judging from what I've been able to find out 40's to early 50's based on the logo plate. Evidently these early rollers aren't stamped.

What you just picked up is what I was looking for. I have a 10 drawer Craftsman top box. It'll go on the Snap-On no problem but, darn it,,,,,

It won't match!;) Guess I'll need to find another roller and another to box, LOL.

Found this trek 3700 on the roadside. It took a bit of fiddling with stuck cables and flat tire but cleaned up well enough. Good spare for the other 3700 i also found on the curb. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1632786839.JPG

+1 - I think I'd call local police and see if it has been reported as stolen. Why would someone just leave that bike sitting on the side of the road otherwise?

porsche930dude 09-27-2021 04:37 PM

It was out for scrap laying on a pile of old fencing. I went to their garage sale a month or so ago they were cleaning up. Good people good neighborhood im sure its not thieved. This is the third trek iv found this way people leave them outside they get rusted up and thats the end of it

I found that same bike on a free pile last summer (COVID LOCKDOWN!) It needed maintenance, brakes, chain, some of the bearings. I did all I could do to make it a go-er without spending any money on it, then I took it across the street to the kids park with a sign that said "Free".

I'm 100 percent sure it went to a worthy home.

More curb freebies.....closet doors with nice functioning hardware and 3 porch lamps all in working condition. I have converted all of mine to LED here so not sure what I will do with these yet.

Hit em real quick with a wire brush then use Rustoleum Hammered on them.

They come out looking as good as new and the Rustoleum holds up way better, like years longer, than the factory coating.

Snagged a wheelbarrow and two coolers from the curb last night. The wheel nation has a steel frame and a solid rubber tire, just needed oil in the bearings.

The two coolers are cheap Coleman’s, but I needed one to butcher for a fog chiller for Halloween, and the other will be good for hauling back crawfish from the lakes!

Thanks, Scott - great idea! Will post back when done......SmileWavy

Nice score, Sid. Especially that wheelbarrow! Looks like replacement handles on it too! :p

How do you paint those coach lights....remove the glass....or tape over it. Sounds like a PITA.....:D

Tape.

Takes 5 minutes.

Tape sloppy and trim back with an xacto.

Here is one I did 6-7 years ago.

Lasted twice as long as the factory finish so far.

Actually have as a fall project to redo all the coach lights on the house.

Going for maybe a darker shade this time.

OK thanks - makes sense. I have plenty of painters tape and single edge razor blades.

Are you using LED bulbs in yours or sticking with the filaments?

I think you're right about going a little bit darker.

Wowza~~~!!!!
$100
Canon 50D body, three batteries, continuous power supply battery input, charger, remote firing cord. The 50D body is a cropped frame sensor which accepts L lenses and will work on my dental microscope at work. Full frame sensors are too much for the scope, and 15 megapixels is more than enough for day to day use without clogging up the server. Mounted to my microscope, it can run all day on the power supply, and provide hdmi to video monitors. Also perfect for my daughter. :D

Ironic that the photo of your new camera is blurry.
